I saw it last night and have a few comments. First and foremost Margo fought a hell of a fight he looked like monster out there eating up everything Cotto threw at him and asking for more. Cotto started off well but didn't make the neccessary adjustments in the middle rounds. He too often let Margio have his way with him against the ropes and for some reason he refeused to tie Margo up. Another thing Cotto seemed like he abandoned his body attack maybe he knew he would get countered if he wnet to the body and just didn;'t want to pay the price but going to a relentless guy like Margo's body shoud have been his number 1 priority. He came in with the wrong gameplan trying to headhunt Margo whose chin is iron.

I would like to see Cotto get a new trainer one that can work on his defense which was lacking for the most part. I've already done a thread admiting I was wrong about Margo he's a threat to anyone at 147 and I underrated the hell outta him.

I want Margo to fight Williams period, this is a much better fight than a Cotto rematch. I believe Margo has Cotto's number and will beat him worse in a rematch. Cotto needs to take the rest of the year off and rest.

I underrated him also, but like u said he fought a great fight and my opinion he is a legit threat to anyone at 147 to 154

I echo that: good assessment. A rematch with Margarito is a stylistic fight that Cotto can't win. Margarito v Williams and Cotto v the winner of Hatton v Malignaggi (if they can be lured up for a payday) or the winner of Clottey v Judah should be the next fights on the horizon.

Cotto's new defensive coach should be B-Hop. For all the criticism that Hop gets, he knows when to hold strategically and when to tie it up, and whether this is exciting or not for the fans, it would've helped Cotto immensely.

Margarito would beat anyone in the world just now at either 147 or 154 IMO. Him v Williams will be a great fight.

Right on the money Bro! Glad you were able to see why Marg is definitley a force at 147. A lot of people wrote Marg off long before the Cotto fight so dont beat yourself up or anything. I think Cotto is a better boxer with out a doubt but You have got to have some CRAZY boxing skills i.e. FLOYD or have the "FIGHT" within that matches or surpasses Marg i.e. PAC to really stand a chance at beating Marg. I think that's why Paul was able to beat Marg the first time. He was hungry, had a LOT of Fight in him and he has a lot of skills. The other thing he did was pressure Marg who is the one who likes to pressure his opponent.

I agree B-hop would make a good trainer. He knows how important it is to tie guys up.

Cotto doesn't need a new trainer, and he didn't come in ill prepared, or with a bad gameplan. He simply ran into a guy that was able to properly exploit his weaknesses. Cotto did everything he could and it wasn't good enough. Maybe if his nose and mouth weren't busted, he may have been able to pull out a decision. Nothing else short of having Panama Lewis in corner was going to change the outcome of that fight.

cotto hit him with the some of the hardest punches he has ever thrown, margo kept coming, it was too late when cotto realized the plan isn't going to work.

Cotto already made the statement that he saw no opening to the Body and this was the result of his lack of it.

Both guys put up one hell of a performance.

Margarito focused on body protection, allowing Cotto to tee off at his head. It's a strategy that very, very few fighters ever could employ with success, and Cotto unfortunately happened to run into one of those guys.
