The big problem is that Kessler doesn´t bring much to the table right now in form of titles and legacy. Risk and reward a nightmare for the likes of Dawson, Pavlik and JT! Lacy would be a good opponent to keep a high profile in the states!
I personally hope Pavlik returns to 160 after his rematch with Taylor & makes some defences. I'm sick of all this division hopping.
If he were to fight Lacy, it should be no more than a tuneup. Besides I disagree with kessler not bringing much to the table, he put Calzaghe in the p4p rankings and made him legit to all. Before Kessler alot of people saw Joe as just a guy who held on to the WBO for a very long time and beat an overhyped Lacy. Any real boxing fan knows a win over Kessler is a big win.
I agree with you. Kessler vs. Lacy would be a complete joke. Lacy is not fit to share a ring with Mikkel. Sorry Jeff, no disrespect.
No doubt that Kessler os a huge win for Calzaghe... Bigger than a win against the current version of Hopkins. But in all logic why should/would Pavlik, JT or Dawson fight a guy who is not rated as the top contender in any of the federations. No titles and not that big of a name in the states. Sorry but Kessler is to dangerous an opponent to face right now for the top guys! He will be avoided for as long as possible! Bika, Miranda and Lacy seems more likely at the moment!
Well I don't think Kessler is proven enough for him to only fight superfights just yet - let him beat some of the contenders: Bika, Miranda, Lacy, Green ... make a prober name for himself before people start saying Lacy isn't good enough to face him ... after all Lacy did beat Tsypko injured and Tsypko is rated around #10 in SMW... Kessler is a risk/reward nightmare atm ... let him up the reward a bit - get a title or make a name for himself outside Denmark and the hardcore fans on here... If Kessler gains some titles or a good TV-name, then the good fights will come to him. As I see it he is perfect for US-TV - it's just a question of making it happen.
Can't wait to see him back in the ring, he's in my stable of favoured fighters I'd like to see him start off with what would essentially be a tune up against the past it Lacy. It would be a very easy nights work, but at the same time it will keep up the profile he has built with his creditable display against the best supermiddle of all-time Then there are plenty of options. Bute would be a very good fight, in which he'd be the strong favourite to regain a belt. The Froch/Inkin winner. The invigorated Miranda He needs to get himself in the picture for a fight with the Taylor/Pavlik winner OR loser, by getting some wins and possibly fighting in America. If he can get HBO behind him I see a distinguished career ahead, he is very marketable
froch is a ****** he faught nobody and thinks he is the best without fighting anyone and keeps saying people dodgying him
Lacy is a top 10 super middle, has only one loss, lost to the same guy Kessler did, and its Kessler's first fight since his first loss (something that mentally hurts a lot of fighters). By fighting Lacy, beating a top 10 supermiddle will do boatloads for his confidence and put him in position for another title.
Kessler would simply outbox Lacy quite brutally.. He would either knock out Lacy or make him retire between 7 - 10 round. I would like to see Kessler vs. Miranda... I think this could be great fight, Miranda has the style to bring out the best of Mikkel.. Kessler would counter him all night and would win a knock out decision. Would also like to see him fight the winner of Pavlik - Taylor, 160 to 175, I would give him at least a 55 % chance of winning, depending on who he fights... I actually think Taylor would be the more difficult fight for him.. He was hurt against Calzaghe and was pressured against Mundine (both speed fighters). He would counter Pavlik all day..
