Thank goodness there is some real heavyweight talent from America again. I'm still not sold on Willder, but Bryant Jennings has a number of things going for him:

    * HE IS IN SHAPE. For American heavyweights, this means a lot
    * He is a real athlete
    * He's competitive and tries hard to win
    * He's still raw; he can improve a lot
    * He's got an excellent chin
    * He's got handspeed

As an American, it's about time that some real USA talent stepped to the plate. Jennings still has a lot to learn, but he's got heart and the will to win that has been missing from a lot of recent American heavyweight "prospects" that became busts.

    I like it!

There was a thread a few months back about Wilder vs Stiverne and the above was my response.

I always thought Jennings was good. And I still think he would beat Wilder and Stiverne.

    Good call by you.

I never saw Jennings fight before but I love him after tonight. He still has a lot to learn, but boy the talent and drive are there. He's got a bright future if he is handled right.

Jennings is definitely talented. He hit a wall in Wladimir Klitschko, but that's a wall i don't think anybody can climb at this point in time. Jennings will definitely hold a belt imo when Wlad retires.

    :thumbsup

Just keep developing. He and his team had the stones to take the fight now and his stock only increased. This guy definitely, I think, has the talent to be a title player/belt holder once Wlad is gone.

    USA! USA!

He did well defensively running and giving the angles but offenesively he did little. Nothing impressive in the offensive terms.

Bryant will go on the defeat a ton of up and coming threats and look great just like Povetkin has. Jennings beat Perez who everyone rated very high and that was a legit win. A lot of us didn't give him near the credit he deserved going into the fight and of course the haters do nothing but say how bad Wla looked as opposed to how good BJ looked.

When i think about fact that he started late i respect him even more, with very limited experience he boxes extremely well, he would be even better if he starter as kid, talented guy no doubt.

    It's a great point.

Jennings was surprised the scorecards weren't closer. He has to learn that body punching for points isn't a great pro strategy.

That said, the guy gave a great accounting of himself. No fear, excellent chin, athletic, not scared of the moment. He has a ways to go but after Wlad's gone, how good is the opposition? If he works on his offense he should be in a very good spot once Wlad hangs up the gloves.

    Pretty much, yep.

Wlad didn't look "bad." He easily won the fight. But Jennings did make him miss and he did take his punches. Which is saying a lot more than a lot of guys can do against Wlad.

    Congrats to both.

He seems like a natural. Once he improves his offense, sky could be the limit.

    I like him.

The guy won about 4 rounds max against an over the hill fighter, nothing to get exited about.

Jennings is ok but Wilder is the real American heavyweight on the rise.

I was wrong in my judgement and underestimated him. Just needs to learn how to throw punches. Maybe now that he can concentrate on his career things will get better. His confidence will only improve after tonight's performance.
