Well I am happy to be corrected as well, because I haven't watched the fight for ages either, but from what I can remember Cotto started to stick and move more as the fight progresses to win the later rounds, although you could also say Clottey gifted him them by not doing enough.

    That's what I remember.

However, when you get a fight that was that attritional it's difficult to say exactly what the deciding factor was.

Same here. Rather than a Cotto adjustment it was Clottey who either couldn't or wouldn't keep the pressure up over the last 3 or 4 rounds.

That said, hats off to Cotto for staying in there and gutting it out.

Yep LHL Bradley dropped early came back to rack round after round up. Used intelligent pressure and forced the lazy Holt to surrender his WBO light Welterweight title.

The Cotto debate i can see what Kos is saying lads. He boxed centre ring for the most part...he was aggressive at times but rounds were going back nip and tuck. He ended up using the ring and lateral movement and picking shots and stealing rounds. In a way it might of been a fluke adjustment..showed Clottey's major flaw.

Has anyone mentioned Benn McClellan yet? Benn didn't change any tactics or suddenly work out McClellan to get the win. He just stayed in there and fired away.

Another example similar to the above is Cotto Torres. That was a real battle of wills. The man who wanted it most won.

    haye vs mormeck

    lopez vs mtagwa

Sometimes instead of a major adjustment the fighter needs to fight hard to grind out the win just like fury did.

Salvador Sanchez had to rally late in a couple of his championship fights. His tenacity pulled him through some tough challenges, but mainly his apparent coolness at dismantling a troublesome foe.

Michael Carbajal deserves a mention here.

Dropped twice by Gonzalez, battered up real bad, pulls it out and KO's Gonzalez

Outboxed by Kim, he stops him late.

And ditto in the Arce fight.

But this was more due to his punching power, and willingness to let his hands go rather than any tactical adjustments.

Bradley showed his mettle in that fight, but I think it was Holt inexplicably calling a halt (sic-ouch) to his jab that allowed Bradley to be able to make the adjustment.
