Finding old boxers records

    My granddad was a pro many years ago - he was born around 1905 so he was probably fighting from the mid-twenties onwards. He died when I was young, as did my dad, and the rest of the family weren't very bothered so I never knew much about his record. By all accounts he would have been a journeyman now, nowhere near championship standards but decent enough, according to some of the old fellas who used to tell me about him.

    Anyway, does anyone know where I might be able to start looking to find out more about his career, or is information from the period so incomplete that it would be a waste of time?

    Seen one fight on there (drew a six rounder in 1932) but he had more than that.

    Maybe you could check the archives of the local paper? :think

    You could also contact Boxing News, they might have something.

    Try his name through a google news archive check.

    Or go down to your local library and try look through some old papers.
