It's hard to call really. I know Wilson can hit but Arslan is built like a brick shithouse. He is huge. Should be exciting. Plus i haven't seen Arslan so i can't really say who will come out on top.

Arslan isn't great, he's tough but not great. Still he should have enough to see off Ding. It's for a joke of a championship though. He may not fight at cruiser again but David Haye is the current WBA champ.

I'll say close UD for Arslan. Early on it could be a war, but I suspect Ding will gas out late. The other two reasonable outcomes are Ding KO or Arslan by wide UD, if he keeps in his shell and just throws hard counters for the first 6 rounds or so.

This should be a hell of a fight.

The best chance Ding will have to get a belt.

I actually think Ding will probably pull it off. Arslan is a very underrated brawler, but from what I've heard and seen of him he is a pressure fighter who likes to get into brawls. That's a great strategy against light-punching boxers like Virgil Hill, but not a good idea against one of the biggest punchers in the sport. On the other side, Arslan doesn't have much power and Ding has an iron chin.

I suspect they'll go toe-to-toe in a war; both will score a lot of shots, but Ding will land the harder shots. Arslan has been very durable so far in his career, but he hasn't faced any world class punchers and the fact is that, even with an iron chin, you can't brawl indefinitely with a big slugger if you lack the power to hurt him.

Ding will TKO Arslan in the early-to-middle rounds, I think, hopefully setting up a big fight with Adamek or Mormeck (my other two favourite current cruiserweights).

I'm not so sure Kurgan. We've seen Ding gassed and hurt several times in the last 3 years. Arslan is a brawler by nature but he will fight the typical german style of high hands, tucked in elbows, leaping in for clusters and leaping away from Dings swings. It's shite to watch but very effective at a certain level. I can see Ding very frustrated and gassed late on and trying to stay in it.

would be nice to have a ESB WORLD BOXING CHAMPION eyh???

damm, i hope he pulls it off.

from what i have seen, arslan is a plain and simple pressure fighter: great chin and stammina, little power.
all he can do is come at you and bring the heat.

so these guys will be going head to head. if it goes the distance, arslan will probably win.
but arslan will have to take dings flush shots for twelve rounds...........and thats not a small order!!!!

sure, he has a great chin..............but he never faced a banger like ding. 44 year old hill or brudov dont hit like him.
and arslan is 37 or 38 i think.

ding has one hell of a shot IMO.

Arslan has an iron chin, but if anyone can smash through iron, it is THE DINGALING MAN! Arslan has an in-your-face pressure style, he WILL be there to be hit.

    GO WILSON!! :happy

I think Arslan will win via UD because he's sticking on his opponents the whole fight. To KO a fighter like him, you need speed and one hell of an uppercut. No chance to KO him with an overhand right because you can't put leverage behind it when your foe is sticking close on you. Ding most probably won't get/can't create the space needed to deliver his powershots and Ding is no jabbing-machine to hold Arslan at bay, piling up points...

I don't see how leaping in at Ding is a good strategy at all.

Not only did Arslan employ that tactic against "light-punching boxers" like Virgill Hill, but he was quite successful with the same tactic against big punchers like Tokarev and Drozd as well. Arslan has an iron chin and for sure can take a good punch.
As you may know Tokarev and Drozd are world class punchers up to a certain degree. And by the way Tokarev defeated Wilson when they met in the ring.
And yes,Arslan can brawl indefintely with a big slugger as his chin is beyond doubt and nobody out there can go toe to toe with him for 12 long rounds. His stamina is from another planet.
I am positive that Wilson has seen Drozd's encounter with Arslan. Drozd is a very good puncher who tried to blast Arslan out of the ring within the first 3 rounds. He connected with countless good shots which would have been enough to take out most present cruisers, but Arslan took them and kept attacking his hard-punching foe. Drozd ran out of gas after just 4 rounds. He was totally out of puff and had to give up the fight due to Arslan's superior stamina. It was an amazing fight. Drozd had the upper hand in firepower,in natural talent,he was faster, showed beautiful uppercuts, connected with murderous punches-Arslan couldnt hold a candle to him in terms of skills and talent.Nevertheless,it wasnt Drozd who was declared the victor.
Ding shouldnt rely too much on his firepower. He has to break Arslan's rtymus by all legal and illegal means. Arslan is a fairly limited boxer, but his chin and his stamina are not his weak spots.Thats for sure!
I will root for Wilson, but I wont bet my money on him.Could really go either way! It all depends on Wilson's strategy and game plan.
