    Hi,

I have my first fight in 2 days and im excited and also really nervous about it.

I have been training for just under a year and a half and train 5/6 days per week.
I have been training hard, doing allot of sparring and cardio work and definitely feel prepared for my 1st fight, but just thinking about being in the ring for real gets me feeling really nervous and sick.

Please can anyone give me some advice as to how to control the nerves before the fight and stay mentally strong and focused. Really want to make my coaches proud!

    Thanks :thumbsup

Try masturbating in the dressing room before the fight to help calm your nerves and stay relaxed. Tyson, Ali, Sugar Ray all used to do it. :good

Edit - wait you a girl? Either way it still applies.

To be honest with you it is normal to be nervous for your first bout. As soon as you get in the ring it will go away. Just relax and remember what you have been taught.

I was unbelievably nervous before my first bout, I was left on my own in the changing rooms for long periods before my bout. I suggest you surround yourself with at least one other person, and basically talk about anything other than boxing. Keep your mind occupied, you will still be nervous, but your every thought will not be about what is coming up. Save as much energy as possible, stay relaxed...you will be wasting energy anyway through nerves. Although I say keep interacting with people, don't listen to anyone other than your coaches concerning the bout...everyone becomes an expert when it's not them in the ring.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

Just think about the moves you have been practicing. Don't think about winning or losing, the goal is to do what you trained for, just imagine that. You are not going to win doing something you haven't done before, you've had success in sparring before so do what you do naturally. As long as you are doing what you've practiced you should do great!

Rocky Balboa- "No no no no no no, no, your best friend is a guy named Frankie Fear. You see Fear is a fighters best friend you know, it aint nothin to be ashamed of, you see Fear keeps you sharp, it keeps you awake you know what I mean it makes you want to survive, you know what I mean. But the thing is you gotta learn how to control it alright, cause Fear is like this fire alright, and it's burning deep inside, now if you control it Tommy, it's gonna make you hot! Or if you see if this thing here controls you... it's going to burn you and everything around you up."

Just remember, you're fighting another girl and girls can't punch. There is literally no way you can get hurt. No need to thank me.

Basically makes boxing redundant when neither combatant can hurt eachother doesn't it? Cooking lessons would be much more useful and appropriate for a double X chromosome carrier.

    - i'm just bored and joking, good luck Deb -

Just try and stay loose and relaxed. Remember, the other guy is feeling the same way. Once you get in there, it will all go away. You wont see anybody but the other fighter so just concentrate on him and let your fight game flow.

Just breathe. Biggest thing. Breathe deep, from your abdomen and focus on positives. Focus on yourself and what you can do, not the other girl. Good luck.
