My brother had his first amateur fight a few days ago. I am the one yelling commands. Up to this fight, he trained for 2 months in skill and conditioning. He trained hardest the last 2 weeks after learning about the fight. The fight is 3 rounds with each round at 1 min 30 seconds. After the fight, he regretted not throwing more punches and admitted to putting too much thought about his opponents counter punch. You can see all three rounds by clicking on the link below. http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=j9u9s3&s=5 Below is a small clip of his 123 combo before his bout. I have more mitt work videos but need to resize to upload. http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=nohagm&s=5 Any advice and feedback about his stance, guard, etc would be greatly appreciated.
Keep hands up, throw the jab with more conviction and with the 1:30 round time he doesnt have time to do much just use the jab nonstop to set up other shots
He needs to stop floating his punches, keep his hands up. Instead of leaning back start slipping the punches, or block.
for starters you had your lead hand around waist height the whole fight and because of that your opponent landed every right hand he threw at you. You need to keep your hands up, your reflexes obviously arnt quick enough to be fighting with your hand down like that. Also try to parry or slip his jab, you ate all his jabs. In the second round all you did was throw single jabs then jump out of range. Try a double jab and right hand or a jab and right hand to his body, then follow up with a left hook or another jab.. these simple combinations will open up other shots for you at that level. Well done for getting in there and having a go dude, keep training you will improve p.s. why was your trainer wearing that stupid hat...
tell him no matter what DONT RUSH.. your first fight is about experiencing the sensation of being under real pressure in the ring. if he makes it to the final bell consider it a win. hell learn nothing but how to be cocky if he knocks his opponent out in thirty seconds.
He had his first fight after two months of his starting boxing? Has he even sparred yet? And where are you guys? No jerseys, just standard gym shorts, and I think the one guy had regular tennis shoes.
Hi. Well, You have to give him credit to step up in the ring just after two month´s but, here´s what i think. the trainer should teach him the basics first. his hands are way to low, he doesn´t seem to have the reflexes that are needed to box that way and even if he had, he should first learn to box with his hands higher, then he can develop other styles. His chin is to high and he´s to stiff in his uper body. But after two month´s you can´t expect things to be better than this everything takes time, don´t rush him into fight´s to early give him time to develop the skills and the fight´s will be easy. I don´t see anything that the trainer couldn´t correct. Work on speed, guard and learn the basic and everything will get better, give it time it will come. Best of luck The predator
God, this scares the **** out of me. I've been training 3.5 months and my first fight is in a couple weeks. I'm at LHW and %18BF so I'm probably giving up a lot of muscle to whoever I fight. Watching this guy reminded me of my sparring, except I don't get KD'd generally. Oh boy...
For 2 months training it wasn\t a complete disaster but there are too many things to work on to list....
