Eh, he's a bum because he didn't offer Price a rematch.

This was a Sharpner for Ray's challenge to Benitez, and a lot of good judges felt The 'Hawk' would give Ray several rounds of quality work, Holding victories over Palomino and Cuevas, and going on to give Dave'Boy'Green a tremendous tussle, The Hawk quite rightly deemed a suitable Warm-up

But the devil in Ray surfaced, that Smiling Madison Avenue face had Horns..That saccharin smile could go Sabre Toothed... Ray wanted to send a message to the Benitez Camp... and if so..Mission accomplished, No Poison Pen letter ever carried more Venom..

Shame that Rudy Barro, and Jose Baquedano got there first, isn't it. Particularly Barro with his 10 - 9 - 0 record, yet he sparked Price in 2.

Price beat Palomino and Cuevas after the Barro loss.

He was a credible opponent for a title fight tune up. Leonard could certainly have picked a weaker opponent.

Price performed really poorly in this fight.
    Leonard looked terrific.

Cosell was as bad as ever.

Leonard that night would do the same to any welterweight the last 30 yrs. An awesome display of boxing ability, unapricated power, And devastating speed. And a ruthless killer instinct. And done against a ranked and very good fighter.

He was something special was Sugar Ray.

Only an idiot or a Foxy 01 couldn't see that.

Anyone who thinks that SRL's WHOLE career was "smoke and mirrors" should watch this.

Pre-retina surgery Leonard was a great, great fighter. Imo, it was only post-surgery (post Kevin Howard to be precise) that he became thoroughly manipulative and a cherry-picker, using the money he could generate for his opponents as capital for them to cede to his (sometimes outrageous) demands.

A case of he who pays the piper calls the tune.

    Good business but disappointingly cynical.

One could also say that SRL & his team manipulated Duran regarding the rematch after Montreal, but it's not Leonard's fault Duran apparently got so out of shape so quickly.

Just the sort of garbage I'd expect from a fanboy like you.

    FACT.

Leonard was NOT the first man to KO Price, or even the second to stop him.

Only an idiot, or you, would try to make out things were any different.:nut

Has it ever occurred to you that people you call 'fan boys' are actually just good at ****yzing fighters and that it is more a case of you being anti certain fighters, in this case Leonard, than others being 'fan boys.'

You simply have a hatefull personality that comes across loud and clear, and it seems to cloud your judgement regarding certain fighters.

As I already pointed out, since being stopped a few times earlier in his career, Price had beaten Palomino and Cuevas. Cuevas was a muderous puncher and Price not only lasted against him, he beat him. This alone makes him a worthy opponent for pre title challenge Leonard.
