i got hit with my 1st proper bodyshot yesterday and had to take a knee,, god damn it hurts! is there any way to strengthen round the solar plexus area????
Yea you can build up your core in many ways. There are tons of plyometric exercises for it and you'll want to work on all of your core as it is all moving together and you'll be hit in different places in the body. You also want to be used to getting hit...as in prepared for the pain so it is familiar to you. It sux but yea spend rounds sparring doing only body shots. So for eg, you get to do only head shots, the other guy only body etc, then switch...and you'll be catching them. I've found the best way to discourage sparring partners from smashing your liver in...is when they do hit you... and you find yourself about to hurl...throw up on their shoes. That'll make em think twice next time.
We do a few things in our gym thats different than just the typical ab workout. We'll do our situps in a tractor tire while getting wailed on by someone with a medicine ball in various parts of our abs or we'll hang from a pullup bar and someone will hit you in the abs for a while (fairly lightly) so your essentially a heavybag. I think the latter works the best for toughening you up since your stretched out and its harder to resist.
:rofl Doesn't tickle does it. A good thing for that is lay a mediball on the ground, get in a push up position over the ball, lower your solar plexis on the ball and do reps and sets of 'rolling' the ball around the ground with your stomach. Also you can do pushups over the ball lower your stomach on top of the ball on every rep. You can hold a mediball yourself or get a friend to do it and do sets of compacting your stomach. Literally bashing your own stomach to toughen that ***** up.
yeh but my abs are in great shape and this shot just got me right under my chest and winded me bigtym, whats worse? a liver shot or one to the solar plexus?
Liver shots are worse than solar plexus. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't been hit by a hard enough liver shot. Now that you know how much they hurt, make sure to throw a lot of them at your opponents. That's how I learned.
the hardest punch i ever got hit with in a fight was a body shot.i can't remember whether it was in the rib or solar plexus area but i remember beckoning this lad in after and the bluff worked, he didn't and i won on points. i'd been hit with harder body shots while sparring though and not fared so well.either your knee comes up invuluntarily, you fold over towards your knee or ....you go down.
