snap!! I vaguely remember watching the rematch a day or so after the event when it was on ITV. As for watching a fight live, as in live tv, was Holmes v Cooney and that was because we got an RTE aerial cos they were showing it live. What a long ass night that was for a kid. They showed the Deer Hunter just before it, advert breaks and all, then something went wrong and they showed it from the start again. No wonder ive never forgotten it since id the attention span of a fly at that age

Had always watched bits and pieces because my Dad was always glued to the Friday night fights (he also said they were on Mondays and Wednesdays too) but the first memory of watching a full fight and discussing it with my Dad throughout and after was Joe Frazier v George Chuvalo.

Muhammad Ali v Henry Cooper II in 1966.

I was one month shy of my 11th birthday. Became an Ali fanatic there and then.

I want to say it was a replay of Tyson-Spinks on ESPN Classic sometime in the 2000s, they used to show a ton of boxing on the weekends, back then when I was pretty young, Tyson and Ali marathons, things like that. I remember a lot of filler for the 30 minute run time, and well, I learned pretty quickly why. That amazing knockout was very captivating, and boxing has been the only sport I enjoy watching since.

Funny enough, my dad was stationed in Japan serving in the Air Force back in June of 1988. The fight was 100 bucks(his memory may be off but I'm not sure). He had to stay up very late, spent a decent chunk of change on something nice to eat during the fight, went to go take a quick leak, and missed the entire thing.

I saw that one with my Dad and Uncle too, it was on ABC's Wide World Of Sports right before my two week stay in the hospital for Valley Fever. Everyone at the hospital was talking about that fight and all the gory blood, one nurse said that Henry could have donated all that blood to the blood bank, my mom and dad were just looking at that nurse. I was hoping the fight would have lasted longer because I did not want to go to the hospital, they let me down, Lol.
