Hi all im new on here and already made a few "dumb threads" and i apologise. I have my first bout in 4/5 days and i nervous. I've been reading old threads where posters such as "lefty" "mr smalls"" and others say if your 1-2 kg above your fighting weight you can take care of it on the week of the fight. Somethings about low fiber and water weight. Can someone please explain this? And how long before a fight do you usually stop training? Would 2 days before be good or should i have more?
His advice was do what you want about training. About weight= don't eat untill you have weighed in or run on fight day I don't like him he's a dick but the gym is decent i stay there because its closest around and it had good sparring for me. Care to add anything helpfull lol
I personally only rest for 1-3days before. i just don't go hard... just to keep myself sharp. And about weight :S my old way was not eat or drink anything for a couple days before weigh in. Moved up in weight
if you only have to lose a 1kg around then maybe a sauna suit? http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9250284/Trail/searchtext>SAUNA.htm like tht one maybe?
hi there! I don't know much if anything about when to stop training, for a boxing match. Probably at least 1 full day off, previous couple training days be light work, nothing heavy duty. As far as making weight is concerned, there are lots of things you can do, but it is highly dependant on when your weighin is with regards to your fights, how much time you have between the two. That's the main question I have to ask before I can tell you anything mate, so get back to me!
Weighin is at around 6-7 and because im a adult boxer i box after all the kids so id fight most likely between 10-12. Definatly not before 10 so i have minimum 3 hours between weighin and fight
over weight by around a kilo but less then a kilo and a half so not that much fight weight is 63 and i weigh 64.2/64.3
Thats my weight when i wake up so the not drinking muchj on the day wont help and unfortunatly i can't take a **** on demand. Anyother tips?
If you switch to low fibre foods about 36-48 hours before a weigh in you may lose up to about a kilo depending on how good your diet usually is, try to avoid taking in too much sodium in that period so you retain less water weight and you might not even have to do anything else. If you still have a little bit to lose, just sweat it out in a sauna just before your weighin, you're close enough to your weight to not have to worry about dehydrating yourself. You can eat but not too much, make a good percentage of your energy from carbs so your muscles are fuelled for your fight. Training in the days before the fight should be short and sharp, don't do anything fatiguing because you're not going to get fitter in the last few days before your fight.
