firstly, your defence. there ae many ways of not being hit, holding your hands high, as said by many here is one, however there is so much more to a good defence than blocking. you need to get some lateral movement and learn to slip and parry,this is especially in the amatuers when single punches earn points, when catching on the gloves, judges can be conned into awarding points.
also slipping, parrying and ducking shots leave you in a position to counter with shots of your own.
when you get back in the gym, get working soley on defence for a while, learn to slip, learn how to parry both inside and out, find which slip and parry you are most comfortable with to then land the counter...from you video you seem to favour the left for power, most orthodox fighters tend to favour the right, therefore learn how to parry the jab on the outside where your left hook can be a potent weapon....

**** it, i could go on all day.....summary, learn to move, be cuter in your defence and it will all fall into place...

oh, and keep enjoying it, it all ends too soon....

Ok thanks!:good I don't know why i tend to hit harder with all punches from my left, but i'm right handed. Go figure
