ok first off good job! well im going to have to base this on round 2 and 3 because round 1 isnt working for me so.. i think yes ur right u shouldve thrown more punches, with that being said though i think your opponent had an highly above average punch output for a sub-novice. i dont know what hes doing to have that kind of energy (redbull?) but i think if u blocked and picked if off u wouldve landed a lot more. Also i know u were real nervous and that probably tired u out real quick with that being said theres no way it was his first fight. Besides that i think u should roll, and move your head more while carefully picking shots and in the beginning just give him one strong "power" shot just do he respects u, and doesnt come in charging like that. Also uppercuts would have stopped him coming at u like that. All that being said im no professional just adding what i think u can improve on. Good luck and keep fighting! just curious though at what weight was this? and where are u from?
Only seen the first round because the other videos didn't work for me. Did you win? First off...you looked nearly as nervous as I did before the bell rang for my first bout. In a persons first bout almost always skills, technique, etc go out the window. Your nerves take over and you swing wildly the majority of the time hoping to hurt the other kid so you can get a breather. There was no chance it was that kids first bout, well I would be very surprised if it was. Your next few bouts will no doubt go the same way (very hectic and frantic from the opening bell), but now that you have gotten the first out the way...you will get more control over what you are doing, gain composure, more time will become available and this will let how you train in the gym seep through into your performances. This is a very important no-no, you should never do in amateurs. I did it in one of my bouts once before my trainer gave me a bollocking. Although that kid was throwing an overwhelming amount of punches, NEVER stand with your back to the ropes with your gloves high and not throwing punches back. This will get you an 8 count straight off, and is the main reason you got the 8 count in the first round. You have to throw punches back if the ref is to believe you can be competitive in the bout. Amateur referees's are very strict when it comes down to this sort of thing...they are willing to stop a bout if one kid is not throwing back, whether they look hurt or not. Anyways, good luck in future bouts. :thumbsup
