I didn't see the fight so of course I am only guessing what the problem is based on your description. However, it sounds like an emotion breakdown similiar to what Wladimir Klitschko is prone to. It doesn't matter how good you are or how hard you train, if you can not overcome pressure, your ability will fade.

What you needed to do in training was "torture drills" or at least that is what we called them when I was young. There are an endless variety of torture drills, only limited by your imagination. Try going flat out on a heavybag for 5 or 6 rounds while having somebody beat you with a balloon. You must hit the bag as hard as you can and as frequently as you can. It might not sound all that difficult, by let me tell you that balloon can get VERY annoying after the first round! Those last couple of rounds are going to be pure torture if you really are going flat out.

Once you learn to deal with pressure in training, you won't have a problem with it in the ring.

You think "torture drills" for example being attacked with a balloon will make someone a better boxer? Can you explain how this help?

Becoming a "better boxer" is not the issue. From his description it sounds like he has a problem dealing with pressure. Torture drills are the best way of learning to overcome pressure.

So is the object to maintain form and composure while having someone hit you? That makes sense to me.

Yeah I was real tense. Oh that makes sense, I didn't really know how to do it all I just kinda grabbed him and brought him in close.

And yeah Bob didnt really go over any of the rules, he went over a couple of the ref signs before we fought but he didnt say anything about the signals she was making. What was wrong with the equipment though?

    Thanks, Ill work on that.

Yup i think so, and it varies but usually aerobic running 2-3 times a week and anaerobic 2-3 times. Upper body excercises every other day and lower body when im not doing that. I have an MMA thing on thursdays. and i go to the boxing gym mon- thurs. and about 20 minutes of rope jumping 6 days a week.
