Toney was the king of it imo.

It comes natural to some i always tuck my chin in under my shoulder and counter.

Just better hope someone don't keep punching that arm till you can't move it. takes serious skill to perfect

i heard SRR used it ... but like i hear its a very old school technique an hard to master... its weird if you can master it u wont take very many shots but if u havent youll proaly get hit quite a few times

Nicolino Locche used it sparingly, but it's not so noticable as spent far more time clowning around! But you can see that he goes into the stance now and then and rolls a few punches.

Check out how he messes around with HOF Antonio Cervantes! (Bearing in mind that this is near the end of his career after 120 fights - Locche wins the fight by UD). The second fight in the clip is against Domingo Barrera Corpas, Locche tore two tendons in his left arm in the second round but still managed to win a UD in a 15 round fight with one arm!

I feel like looking an answer to this question is also like asking who first utilized the left hook to the body, mexicans or philly.

its as old as the boxing itself. same as the pick and roll in basketball. with regards as to who employs it to its maximum potential offense-wise, i would include jack dempsey in the list.

You simply do not know your boxing well enough if you do not know the story of Daniel Mendoza. He created the science of boxing pretty much, before him it was just slug fests over 50 rounds.

Dempsey used it and Jersey Joe Walcott used it all the time Toney admits he watches Walcott fights and studies his technique.
