If you're referring to my own sophomoric attempts at humor, they have no deep or nefarious purpose. They are just me being silly.

When other people like SambaKing or reznick post stuff that highlights some of the more absurd details that everybody is fighting about, I enjoy a sensible chuckle.

If you're referring to why I liked BitPlayerVesti's blueberry thread, I think it makes a fair point in a clever way. Most people -- even Seamus, who rejects Marciano as a super-trainer -- find Marciano an impressive swarmer on film for his weight. Marciano's regimen, as presented by the revisionists, looked pretty lazy. BitPlayerVesti's thread points out that it couldn't have been *that* bad because of Marciano's performance on film. And his rhetorical gimmick for making that point was well chosen.

Also, wait a minute. The Hesperides comment actually pokes fun at the orthodox Marciano faction, since it presents the Marciano they're defending as mythical.

Marciano in 2018 would be 6'6 275lb all muscle and would carry a suitcase full of cancer cures.

If Marciano supporters are such a delusional and evangelical group, then why are 90% of the Marciano threads over the past decade, initiated by people attacking Marciano?

Marciano detractors go into a level of detail, that is beyond the interest of Marciano enthusiasts!

Any day now, I expect a Marciano detractor to start a thread based on how Marciano folded the toilet paper, before he wiped his bum!

I guess it only makes sense to explain why Rocky matters to me so much. One day, and I'll never forget this, I was getting bullied badly at school. Five kids started surrounding me, harassing me, and just getting really aggressive. I closed my eyes, and I know it sounds silly, but I murmured the words "Rocky Marciano." What happened next was pretty miraculous. They beat my ass senseless.

It's been brought to my attention that the target of my sarcasm in the Hesperides post was unclear. @reznick, I now rectify that error, and refer you to my clarification post, above.

I have insulted the totem of your people. There must now be war between us.

Years later, when you became the hardest punching fighter in a major city boxing gym and began training with a world-class trainer for the Golden Gloves tourney he expected you to win, did you think about going after any of those guys?

But in all seriousness, the orthodox Marciano fans should appreciate the revisionists' attempt to exhume a complete picture of Marciano's training habits.

Maybe the forum learn something that would be useful for their own boxing training. I mean, Marciano was clearly doing something right, and he was training in the pre steroid era.

You don't scare me. I'm fully prepared to murmur "Rocky Marciano" three times fast.

Yeah, but I realized that real heart isn't stalking childhood bullies and beating them senseless, I realized that real heart was in hard work and dedication. And so I started harvesting blueberries. That is how my empire began.

It's the subtle way that this post places the recipient in some hybrid Karate Kid / Rocky / conspiracy theory movie that makes it the best stupid post of this thread.
