    Greetings (again) Suzie!
I'll agree that Carter-Griffith was a shocker, but don't forget that Carter outweighed him by a wide margin, was scared to death of Emile's boxing ability (from his "16th Round" book), and, afraid of the fight going deep, given Emile's boxing ability, took to taunting Griffith prior to the scrap even calling him a '***' at the weigh in. Good strategy Carter, you took Emile's slick boxing style mindset and turned him into a small, welterweight attacker before the opening bell! Job well done 'o guilty one'!
That being said, one fight that flies under the radar was the Carter-Florintino Fernandez fight in 62-63? Tough SOB Fernandez, with a Numbing left hook, takes on the Hurricane in what was supposed to be a nail-biting slugfest. Carter catches him early with a big wallop and leaves him dangling on the ropes out like a light! (I've got it on video).
That was a shocker; as a youngster, my dad let me stay up and watch the Gillette Friday niter's with him and I remember Florintino putting a couple of tough hombres on ***** street prior to their fight.
Ah, the good ol' days. :verysad
