felt good! felt tired, dropped hands, got caught with big shots but it was good stuff, good learning. bit of a headache now but im psyched, solid gym. the guy has had 15 fights so i was pleased with me hanging for at least the first round. he wasn't going all out, of course, but i caught him with some ****. yay me! hardest part is the roadwork BEFORE training.
I think when sparring you just have to work an opponent out. To many people just 'spar', treat it like a fight... try and work out what the guy is doing, is he picking you off with jabs? If so you want to cut him off... it he is holding & keeping close you want to circle and jab him off. I think when you look at fighting it is hard to get smashed in a fight unless the guy is hugely heavier than you or hugely faster than you. Almost always, however good their technique, you can do something to nulify it. You just need to find what they are good at and take it away from them
