    That night was largely a let down in the end. Macklin looked below average as well.

    Here's the only Braehmer fight I've seen. In round 10 the ref chose the worst possible time to get the cut looked at as Sukhotsky had Braehmer out on his feet moments earlier. I think Clev should be able to beat this guy and possibly stop him late on but it's a risky fight with his leaky defence.

    I feel DeGale will beat Groves, I agree about him playing it safe and think he's just a more rounded and skillful boxer. Groves showed a lot of heart against Anderson but also that he is a flawed fighter. I'm not saying he's a bad fighter and he can still have a lot of success whatever the result of this fight, but his defence is poor and Booth is trying to turn him into a carbon copy of Haye.

    If he fights that guy with 4 weeks notice its ok. He knocks him out.

    I am telling you a prime version of the guy in your avi struggles for a few rounds at 2 days notice agaisnt a spoiler like the frenchman.

    and he doesn't need to adapt agaisnt Braehmer. He is a slightly better version of Murat.

    Good post Bajingo, I actually think leaving Booth would be the best choice for Groves. I think he is being severely hampered by that 'Haye stance' (itself like Roy Jones without the footwork) and that he needs to be rewritten to fight like himself again.

    Then again, how was he stylistically as an amateur? Have seen the Degale fight on youtue as can't really remember much about it.

    I don't like DeGale, but he knows how to hype a fight. I think both Groves and DeGale have learned something from Haye - Groves is influenced by him in the ring, DeGale is influenced by him outside of the ring, the way he runs his mouth.

    I'd love Groves and Clev to win, and think that it is in them, but am nervous for both of them.

    Rob, I see your point, but Roy isn't that kind of fighter.

    His problem was being so good he could take it easy. It was not hard for him to 'turn it on', and when he did he was the unstoppable force personified. If you prodded him, he could make you stop very quickly and take the **** again.

    Clev could barely turn it on throughout. He allowed the Frenchman to do his thing for quite a while without doing much in return.

    Fighters have off nights. Clev also struggled with Joey Vegas who is a tricky fighter. Braehmer does not present those issues.

    Braehmer is made for a fast, active fighter like Cleverly that why Warren and Powell have been desperate for this fight for a long time.

    I think the issues was a mental one more than Cleverlys capabilities as a fighter and that he can overcome that.

    I really hope Clev will win.

    I will also add that I think the Frenchman has no bearing on how this fight will play out. Clev could well roll out all his tricks and smash Braehmer up over seven or eight rounds and stop him in between rounds or summat, or maybe he gets too confident and we really see his chin tested.

    I ain't seen to much of the German though. Is he a genuinely scary KO puncher or a standard European type fighter with a decent dig? I've seen him stop someone before, can't remember what fight but it was hardly Saad Muhammed-esque power. Knocked him over and then Ref stepped in IIRC.
