Props, San Rafael. We're on different sides of this issue, I think (about Dawson), but after the Margarito-Cotto predictions and assessments it's clear you know what you're talking about. (Kind of sucks for the Dawson haters. )

Dear God! This is what I was talking about in the "Genuine question for Calzaghe fans" thread. Johnson beats up a past-it Jones and suddenly half the yanks think he;s an all time great or something! I'll admit the guy's longevity is impressive, but being a punchbag for half of the super middle division does not a resume make. Wins over good competition do. Johnson has Jones, Harding, Tarver, Woods and, at a pinch, Griffin and Hall! Alongside the twelve losses to guys who Calzaghe has panned (Sheika) or guys who his victims have panned (Vanderpool, Branco, Woods). Johnson's resume is not half of what Calzaghe's is!

Incidentally, if they do fight, Calzaghe wins a more competitive fight in the same way he beat Lacy around 117-111. There is nothing I can see that Johnson does better than him, except maybe punch at the mo cause Calzaghe's hands are fcuked. if it was the Calzaghe of 3-4 years ago with his prime speed, good power and (even) better punch resistance, this fight would not even be close, similar to Hopkins-Johnson.

 

Calzaghe - johnson an even fight? Joe would win 10 out of 12 rounds, he would make it look easy.

I wouldn't go along with that.

I'd say Dawson/Calzaghe is more like an even money fight and against Johnson Calzaghe is a big favorite.

Joe isn't a LHW champ. Just like Hop isn't either. Tarver and Jones are shot. Hop beat a shot old man that night in Tarver (Tarver has been horrible against Dawson and against Woods, Muriqi, Santiago, and in the last RJJ fight too).

Hop has said repeatedly he doesn't want tough young guys in their prime (though he made an exception for the middleweight KP).

GJ looks to have more in the tank at that weight then any of the old guys.

Dawson would annihilate Joe.
