This bizarro card also features Anthony Sims, Jr. vs. Hernán David Pérez for the vacant WBA intercontinental super middleweight title, and was supposed to include the return of Lucas "Big Daddy" Browne, against Christian "The Hurricane" Thun, but that one has been postponed.

Ismaikel Pérez Pérez vs. Tony Salam, 12 rounds @ cruiserweight

 

Round 1

Pérez is standing directly in front of his fellow southpaw, confidence verging on disrespect, gloves by his thighs, chin thrust up and pointing outward. Salam is circling and pawing with the right jab, but giving Pérez a healthy berth. Pérez able to command the ring on the strength of just some intermittent powerful diving-in lefts on the body. Salam pivoting as he absorbs them, so that none connect with full impact, but they're bothering him.

Round 2

Pérez is hit with a low blow and given some recovery time. He is bending, stretching, and readjusting his trunks, in some obvious pain, but only takes about 15-20 seconds altogether. Time in. Pérez is warned for what seems to be a rabbit punch in retaliation. They get into a fiery exchange and Pérez blasts Salam with a big left hand, with Salam going down on a delayed reaction, but the ref bafflingly rules a slip. Pérez opening up with left uppercut leads and throwing hooks at the head, many connecting around the back of the scalp as Salam cricks his neck forward and bows in. Hard straight lefts and right hooks on the body from Pérez, dominating. Salam bouncing off the ropes and then desperately attempting to clinch, backing away cautiously with jabs when that fails.

Round 3

Pérez is getting in, throwing combs on the body, and smoothly exiting with a seat on an invisible rocking chair to deny Salam any receipts. Nothing but defensive jabs from Salam when Pérez is coming forward, only really opening up with shots when Pérez steps outside again, but all of those slipped easily. Pérez doing what he needs to here, showing the gulf in levels between them. Not yet pushing all that hard for a stoppage, just toying with Salam. Under a minute left, Pérez starts to style on him with big can-opener lefts up top and scooping right hooks under his elbows keeping Salam trapped in a corner.

Round 4

Pérez is jabbing his way in, seizing initiative to be first and then using his timing and speed advantages to not get hit with any return jabs from Salam. Pérez growing in confidence by the second, putting some bombs in behind the jab, first downstairs and then headhunting. Salam put down hard by a left! He's up and brawling with Pérez, bad idea. Huge lefts on the body and head from Pérez, and then a hooking combo, with a clubbing left forearm on the nape seeming to put Salam down and out cold.

KO4!! (...I think, unless they make it a NC, as that wasn't quite a legal punch that ended things)

edit: never mind, they showed a replay from a better angle, that was all knuckle. Pérez drilled him just behind his right temple while Salam was ducking and scrambling to get his guard up over his chin. Perfect kayo.

 

Whoa, is that Mike Pérez's wife they just showed at ringside? Fine as hell.

 

An interviewer with a British accent wants to know how Mike feels returning after three years. He says it feels great and thanks his wife, the fans, his team, and then gives Salam credit for showing up prepared and willing to go. He is asked if there is anybody he wants to call out and he just shrugs and says he'll fight anybody.
