LOL. I think you actually believe yourself.

Your original post mentions Compton like four or five times. It mentions Mendoza four or five times. It mentions the actual fight almost in passing — the introduction to the thread is ‘I made a bet with Mendoza,’ not ‘I really want to know if this fight was ever filmed.’ Don’t act like the topic of this thread wasn’t about anything else … seriously, go back and read it. It’s a plea for help in your never-ending battle with a guy who is banned from here.

You act like I was the first to introduce content from another forum into this thread … and about 4/5ths of your OP is a list copied and pasted from another thread.

You sure do name-drop Klompton a lot for a guy who pretends not to be buds with him. I think it’s about eight times in this thread and our other interactions in recent days. I’m not sure you can go three or four posts without mentioning him.

No, I’m not the one who interacted with you on the other forum. I haven’t posted on that one in years and I use the same username here. I’m not sure I’ve ever posted on the history forum there, but if so it would have been years ago and hardly at all.

Why are you so obsessed with Mendoza that you’re hanging onto an internet ‘bet’ for years, crawling across multiple boxing forums to argue with him, running back here saying ‘he posted this, help me, helps me’ (as you’ve done here)? Why would you think it’s a good idea to post on this forum content from a poster who has been banned from here for years? Does it not occur to you that in banning him, they don’t want his stuff on this forum? Why would you think anyone here would care about your years-long feud with him?

You should keep your petty battle on the other forum and not drag it onto this one.

    THIS.

All due respect to other parties, but it really is a case of like it or leave it. The mention of details from the other forum were to set up asking the question here - and the subject of what was filmed or wasn’t filmed is the primary subject of the discussion - and an interesting one at that.

We can nitpick over the definition of a fight being “filmed” - but common sense dictates what it’s supposed to mean. How about a fail safe type of enquiry, like “Did a viewable film of this fight ever exist and was it commercially circulated ?” OR something like that question.

The bottom line here is that the other party either disingenuously or mistakenly interpreted the re-enactment with actors to be a film of the actual fight.

Even a re-enactment using the REAL fighters wouldn’t ordinarily be considered a film of the (actual) “fight” and anyone offering up such a film and knowing exactly what they’re talking about would duly qualify it as a “re-enactment”.

Pertinent question. How was Paris @mcvey ? I’m looking to visit there in the near future.

As to “Likes”, they mean NOTHING to me - but please don’t forget to leave one. :D

The last list of yours i found in a quick search is from 2014. At a quick glance there's no claim of Greb - Dempsey sparring nor Loughran which matches your claims above. mcvey can possibly cross reference the lists if so inclined and dig deeper.

Likewise, all due respect but I don’t see any interest from OP in the fight aside from his petty years-long feud with a guy who was banned from here that he’s kept up on other forums.

Has he asked anything about the fight itself beyond whether he can claim a ‘win’ on the bet? Has he asked if anyone has seen an account of it, whether witnesses of the day who saw the ‘reenactment’ film considered it to be a fair representation of what happened in the ring, etc?

He has no interest in the fight, or at least none that he’s expressed. He has an interest in Mendoza and a stupid feud that he’s dragging onto this forum by continually bringing up a banned poster. His post mentions Mendoza/Dr Z way more than it does the fight.

If anyone is actually interested in the fight, you can find the boxrec account (which quotes from contemporary sources) here:

    https://boxrec.com/wiki/index.php?title=Fight:17834

And here is the IMDB page of the fight film, which apparently was considered an achievement in its day. Someone brought the commercial viability into the discussion and it is called in its description here, ‘The greatest moneymaker,’ a description from the Lublin catalogue (Seigmund Lublin was the director) per the American Film Institute (their entry on it is also below):

Thank you. Entirely unsolicited, of course.

I still don’t understand why I can’t give myself “likes”.

There’s a suggestion box thread here, isn’t there? I might float that proposition - wish me luck.

    Fair enough Pat.

We’re all entitled to our opinions - which is exactly what you’re expressing - and I can understand your take to a point.

However, you did forget one thing - to “like” my post.

That’s okay - but note that I just gave you one - so, between you and I, you’re now in the red

You and McVey will always have Paris. (He apparently puts a lot of stock in ‘likes.’)

    I think he is.

Mendoza fabricated so much bs he deserves his just desserts. Even in absentia.

You want to know about that fight, read this thread by @McGrain:

    https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/bob-fitzsimmons-ko6-gus-ruhlin.292724/

I’m sure everyone will instead (if they really care enough about the fight to hit the link) post about a couple of posts by a certain banned poster, but of course this thread is about the fight and the film and has nothing to do with that guy who’s name has come up dozens of times more than Fitzsimmons’ name on this thread.

Why don’t we all go and meet up there, National Lampoon’s Vacation style. First stop, the Eiffel Tower - I’ll even buy you a neat beret with your name embroidered on it. Rusty Pat. :D

Thanks Pugguy the other can make as much vitriol about me as he likes Im no longer replying to him which I have already told him.He was determined to create a cause celebre out of a simple inquiry and he has.
He has now posted 7 times on this thread.
Obsessive? Fixated? Overkill? If he objected to my thread a simple," I dont think that is appropriate here would have sufficed",but it isn't about that ,it's about I don't like you Mcvey and I'm going to get my knife into you at every opportunity because you dared to disagree with me on another thread.
