Close study of the primary sources, suggests that Fitzsimmons was playing a long term game, as oposed to capitalizing on an unexpected opportunity.

He probably calculated that the only way he could win was to drag Corbett into deep waters and drown him.

I'm not saying it was necessarily a capitalisation; I'm saying he was behind at the time of the stoppage.

Corbett didn't dominate until that point, but he certainly started much better.

Maybe, as you say, it's his gameplan. For me it doesn't change anything: de marco was playing the pressure game against linares and I'd certainly call that a come from behind knockout.

A classic case of why 15 rounds adds to the drama.

I have studied the KO blow and what set it up was a quick feint high. Corbett adjusted his guard and at that moment Fitz drive home a body shot to the bottom rib. The film doesn’t show the hook to the jaw due to the wear and tear.

it wasn’t fluke punch. Fitz set it up.

There is 26 minutes of film which was filmed at far and close distance. At the very end the fighters are filed up close. Fitz looks like a stalking menace. Corbett will surprise some. He’s actually a wicked in-fighter.

Fake news. Fitzsimmons never mentioned Corbett's thong boxing shorts. He couldn't take his eyes off Corbett's cheeks.

He makes them seem so scientific.

I hadn’t realised Fitz threw a left to the jaw after the solar plexus punch.
I always thought that was the only punch in the knockout.
