He was a big time prospect, next big thing. Dude was KTFO by a 41 year old Thompson. His confidence is shot, kid has been mismanaged and rushed. He is blessed with good atheltic ability, good power, a good fan base, a bad chin tho... 1. Do u get him a new trainer? If so who? A realistic option? 2. Do u hire him a strength and conditioning coach? 3. How long do u feed him bums to build up his confidence? 4. Who would be a good step up opponent when he is ready, that your confident he could beat? 5. Is he not salvagable?
Price was gettin by bombs for a 260 pound Heavyweight. Actually Price has an average chin most Heavyweights couldnt take those punches
No no according to people from liverpool only stop trying to spread the myth that brit boxing fans rated this guy.
His lack of jab is one of his key flaws, he just stands there throwing bombs which saps all his energy, then if his opponent is still standing Price is there for the taking after a few rounds. You'd have thought working with Lennox would've fixed or at least improved this, but nothing changed.
Price needs a new trainer and Price should hire Marquez' worlds best steroid expert in the world today as his conditioning coach. Marquez' strength trainer is also the top expert at cheating the drug tests. He testified in court against his fellow steroid dealers to keep from going to prison. Marquez got away with this crap, so why not Price?
If Price has any aspirations beyond the British domestic scene, drastic measures are called for. I believe he needs to completely reboot his career by moving to Germany, where the domestic heavyweight scene is deeper and better than is Britain's. He needs to hire a new trainer, a strength and conditioning coach, someone else to work on his mobility and fluidity, and a manager with the patience to build him back up against a gradually increasing caliber of fighters, gaining rounds and experience in the process. This may all seem way over the top, but after losing an immediate rematch he should not have taken, by fighting the completely wrong fight, and by gassing out by the 5th round, it is his only way forward.
Maloney is all wrong for him in terms of a manager. He really needs to go back to the drawing board, in terms of his corner etc
he should work with banks and wlad. they'll work with his major flaws (jabbing as an offensive defense to avoid getting checked, utilizing size, how to actually friggin jab). the power's there like it is with wlad, he needs to complement it with a good jab. also he was getting walloped even when he was clinching.
That could potentially be good move if Emanuel was still alive but I doubt Banks his replacement could train him. The guy doesn't even have a clue himself.
