Manny Pacquaio has a good chin though, Rios is more open than Pacquaio and Pacquaio is good when the opponent comes to him. Manny Pacquaio struggles with counter punchers with footwork. Not come forward fighters.
He will def take shots but this is pacquiao we are talking about... If he hasent lost his chin by now id say he will keep it for the remainder of his career. Pacquiao tko 8 rios
I had it 3-3 I believe.... I dont think the draws are that crazy of a score. I do think I was giving all I could to Rios while still being fair, so I do think the one having it for Rios is somewhat overboard. I was going out of my way to score it for Rios due to me picking Alvarado to win and wanting to see what the worst case scenario would be scorecard wise. I had it 3-3. I dont see a way to give Rios 4 rounds.
I had rios winning 2 rounds going into the 7th. He just couldn't mount to much of an offence, or get past alvarados jab.
I dont know about a fix but I was surprised at the two rounds on the one scorecard. I had the fight a tossup after six but I felt that Alvarado might of had the edge. Having said that, it was a great give and take fight and it made for a good night of boxing.
Great fight, but the fix was in. Alvarado at least deserved a standing 8 count. And those cards were suspect.
I had Mike up, but the rounds were close and I could see that one being even at the stoppage, not sure about Rios being up 2, but he was definitely coming on strong and Mike was swelling and showing more signs of abuse. Mike should have taken a knee, I don't think he had his wits enough about him to do it. I really don't have much of a problem with the stoppage, other than selfish reasons of wanting the brawl to go on. However the guy was out of it. It had been a brutal fight, can't blame the ref. He could have taken a knee, and should have. Either way, great fight, no cards needed.
Alvarado was rarely on the outside though. He just jabbed and didn't move. Rios got to the inside really easily.
Don't think a standing 8 was an option. But I could be wrong. Had the fight even after 6. Thought the stoppage was a bit premature in the context of the fight. He was definitely hurt, but not defenseless. He could have survived the onslaught, but then again maybe not. He was at the tipping point where 1 more punch could have ended it, and where 5 seconds of holding or no punches landing could have given him the time he needed to recoup. Not the worst stoppage I've seen by a longshot though. Anyway, another case where a guy would have been better served hitting the canvas or taking a knee than having the fight stopped. I think its a problem that needs to be addressed, but I don't know the solution.
I wasn't scoring, just enjoying but wondered why Alvarado kept raising his hand at the end of every frigging round. I was watching on Polstat so I wasn't being influenced by the commentators. I thought Rios got the better of the first 4 rounds in terms of the amount of telling shots with Alvarado seeming to come on in 5 & 6 so I thought he had turned the tide. Again, I wasn't doing a serious job of scoring but flip one round and that would make it even.
