i personally don't take as evidence when one fighter claims a fight is fixed and it is not verified by the other fight or an independent/objective source. johnson claimed to have taken a dive against willard to save face. what's to say other fixed fights (lamotta/fox) don't fall into the same category? Considering lamotta's chin, i believe the fix was in on that one...but there's no proof

The New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) banned and fined LaMotta for fixing the fight, after an investigation.

    orriray,

    I like you, but

Sonny Liston looked to make more money than you could know, by losing,
    than winning.

Oh, he tried 'half-heartily' for a couple of rounds, to make it look good, then the 'tank job'.

Yeah  I watch it once a month, was pretty hilarious to see Johnson dropped, get up pissed, and then KTFO Ketchel with one shot :rofl

Leonard-Duran II. Duran had his purse held up briefly. Also the round he quit in 8 sounds artificially like ate, which is where the excuse of the stomach cramps.came from. It's clear that Dundee used his connection to Carlos Marcello, by way of Willie Pastrano who was trained by Whitey Esnault who was forced on occasion to work with the New Orleans crime syndicate, to arrange the fix with Carlos Eleta who was notoriously dirty. Disgusted Ray Arcel quit.

Why do you think the scores were so close. The judges knew the cards were never going to matter.

Roberto Duran vs. Ray Leonard II

Very strange pre-fight agreements for Roberto Duran, who was the Champion.

Some stuff, we will never know.

Tyson-Seldon probably wasn't fixed as such but Seldon definately bitched out, took a dive and an easy payday.

The first KD was from a punch that barely brushed the top of Seldons head and Richard Steele initially ruled it a slip until Seldon just kept laying there and he had to count. I doubt even the most ardent Tyson fan would think this fight was on the level.

    Ali-Liston 1 looks fixed.
It stunk to hell, as BillB remarked.

Ali-Liston 2 was an obvious dive.

Sonny Liston was a gambler. Professional athletes who gamble heavily are the most likely persons in the whole universe to fix a sporting contest.
That's before we even get into his long held mob ties, or the stakes his promotional company held in young Cassius Clay.

The funniest bit is after the second KD.
Seldon clearly fakes his 'rubber legs' act just at the point where Steele is about to let it carry on again.

Seldon was such a mediocre fighter, and Tyson had such a ferocious reputation and powers of intimidation, it might just have been a case of cowardice.

Wrong term 'cowardice'; as anyone who stepped in the ring with Tyson from 86 to the end of the century, was no coward. There is an argument that like Bruno, there was some kind of mental breakdown when the bell went, and the survival instinct kicked in. But a coward would not of been in the ring in the first place!

The only one of these that I consider to be a serious posibility for a fix is Clay Liston II.

I've always felt, and learned, that any claims about the Ali-Foreman fight being fixed are complete and utter BULL**** ! Even to this day some can't bring themselves to believe that Muhammad simply outfoxed, outboxed and beat George.

Liston quit in the first Ali fight, and was intimidated in the return.
