fixed fights...how many can u name...?

Lots of professional sports is fixed in one way or another, I've been saying it for years. Boxing surely. Some of the methods used, it's done almost openly, and passes for semi-legit and accepted practice. Boxing fans, even knowledgeable ones, accept all sorts of blatant farcical stuff, bums taking dives etc., guys who made whole careers out of losing, fighters carrying other fighters, big-time fighters playing pitty-pat for 12 rounds and walking off with millions of dollars each, ridiculous reffing and judges' decisions. The fans moan a little then shrug it off. And most these people would deny that the sport is fixed. Boxing fans like to say "No, that's in the past. that was when the mafia ran things", like you have to be a murderous gangster to rig something ! Sports fans are suckers. It helps to believe that everything is on the level.

People can say I'm a 'conspiracy nut', but it's all coming out. I think professional sports in general might implode when the true extent of the fix and the PEDs is exposed.
Then again, professional wrestling WWE flourishes.

 

Most things involving scumbag Tyson post prison were set up...it was like watching WWF

 

Cocoa Kid vs Oakland Billy Smith the ref realized it was a fix after several bogus knockdowns declared it a no contest and Cocoa was chased out of the arena. They had a hearing his purse was withheld and he was banned from fighting in the state not sure for how long.

 

Theres people that actually believe Tyson-Seldon was fixed

 

His whole post prison career was bizarre start to finish, the only 2 respectable fights he had were the first Holyfield loss and the Lewis fight.

He admits himself that his career was over after Douglas.

 

Sometimes, i feel he should never have returned to boxing after prison. Yes he won a couple of ABC belts, but he ruined his own legacy.

I also feel there was too much Tyson nut hugging post prison. Prior to prison, Tyson had a pretty decent appraisal on his career even after the Douglas loss, everyone was pretty spot on about their opinions on Tyson. However He became ultra overrated after prison and this then set him up for a BIG fall against Holyfield. This is partially because no one captured the publics imagination during 92-95 like Tyson had done prior to prison, so Tyson returning to boxing was like the second coming of christ. Also the other thing is, Tyson was already showing a decline post prison, but 3-4 years out of the game and people forgot this when Tyson was released, so people jumped onto the Tyson bandwagon that 'hes back'

Or, they should have managed his 2nd career much better, like Old Foremans comeback, low key, fight lots of bums, get in the rounds and shake off the ring rust.

the 4 years prior to fighting Holyfield, Foreman fought approx 80 rounds and had 25 fights.

4 years prior to fighting Holyfield, Tyson fought barely 8 rounds.

 

my two penneth - I don't think either the Seldon or Mcneeley Tyson fights were fixed. Seldon got a weird shot that brushed his head and he quite sensibly thought better of getting up, and McNeeley was just a club fighter who stood straight in front of Tyson legs wide apart throwing leather until Tyson inevitably caught him. That fight was and McNeeley were hyped up to a ridiculous level. I paid heard earned money to watch that on closed circuit tv, and I've never once thought the result wasn't legit . McNeeley was just in ovr his head

 

Seldon took a dive, a blatant one ..... but maybe just cowardice rather than some pre-arranged thing.
Seldon did some very strange things in other fights though. The way he went down and jumped up from KD in the Ribalta fight looked fishy. He did the jumping thing against Bowe too.
I guess he was practicing his 'dive artistry'.


Tyson-McNeeley was suspicious. Not on McNeeley's part but on that of his corner. McNeeley was actually doing okay in there, there was no reason to stop it.

 

Mcneeleys corner were looking after their fighter who had not got a cat in hells chance of getting through that round. Not much point in a payday if youre sucking your food through a straw for the rest of your life

 

Yes Unforgiven that is such a mind blowing hypocrisy that even knowledgeable followers of boxing have to admit some of these instances and STILL like to deny there are shenanigans involved for or against fighters... the sport could easily be Rewritten. there are as I have always maintained loads of truly great fighters with very little between them!

Miles Templeton did an excellent 3 part interview with former British L-HW Contender Jock Taylor from Sidcup London. it's on YouTube and Taylor mentions straight up about fixed fights and fights he could never win and fighters being held back and such.

Tyson vs Etienne looked like a fix to me.

 

I don't know how Taylor was rated as a contender for the British Title when he never even won a South East Area Title?:huh
