Just to let you guys know how many brazilians don´t like MMA.....and now that it is popular articles like that are made almost every week, especially by writers of "ESPN Brasil" who is against MMA with passion......

Flávio Gomes is a journalist on Football and Motor Sports.......

The translation is not mine !! I´m a bit busy right now, sorry.....
so I just did it by google.....anyway I think everyone will understand very well.....but I did some quick corrections to make this more understandable for you guys, because google translation sucks sometimes:lol:.....

BTW you will need to know this to understand the article - Galvão Bueno is the most famous broadcaster in Brazil and Globo is the biggest channel, it is like Fox in US I think.....the little song (called "vinhetinha") "Brazil- zil - zil" is a song played every time when a brazilian wins something in sports :

    Like this :

    This is the article:

    SÃO PAULO

"The more astute may have noticed that today Galvao Bueno did not narrate the qualifying session of Abu Dhabi, and will not do it for Globo in the race tomorrow. It is not the first time, of course. This has happened many times when the official broadcaster was assigned to some other important event, like the Brazilian National team games, the end of World Cup competitions in the Olympics, perhaps in the Pan American Games Rio 2007.

But today, no. Today, it is not football, Olympics, volleyball. Galvao will narrate a MMA fight. Or UFC. I'm not sure. And because of that, is out of F1 over the weekend.

This has enormous significance. Galvão considerations aside - there are those who love him, those who dislike those who can´t stand the guy, those who love, it doesnt matter - the squad's main narrator of the largest TV station in the country to make a fight instead of a race means that the F-1 died.

Yes, comrades, died. Globo is guided by the general crap heads who are thinking in your direction. Some genius, sometime in the past, decreed that good sport is sport that Brazil is winning. With such established dogma, immutable, natural stone, we win on Sunday mornings, world championship sand soccer, badminton tournaments interplanetary beach, to international soccer, swimming competitions in the Amazonian rivers and hiking trials in Belo Horizonte created and designed with one goal: to athletes and / or Brazilian teams to win, so that the little song Brazil-zil-zil can be performed to exhaustion, so that the Patuleia, around noon, feel more victorious on the planet and can send the spaghetti and serve to open the brahma.

Ayrton Senna was paid very well to this role for years, and it is no coincidence that the Globo channel has always loved him with passion. But he died, and those who came after him could not much. Hence the birth of these crazy stuff that for a time were called up for World Summer Games

Massa outlined brighten our Sunday mornings Brazil-zil-zil in 2008, but it was clear that he is not the guy, nor was Barrichello and, sorry, Bruno can carry the family name, helmet and black and gold, but will maximum grid to compose a pilot for some time, while there are those who sponsor and who will offer you a car.

Hence, the Globo has elected the new Brazilian passion, exchanging only the Sunday morning for a Saturday night, and this new passion - thank our guides! - This **** is wrestling this wild brawl that encourages kids to fight jiu-jitsu and walk the streets beating up gays, poor, black, Northeastern, all coated with a professional look and chic, fiery, bright, "ultimate" "fighting" words in English, fighting in gyms, people from smoking in the audience, a remake of the cheesy and cartoonish boxing that was somewhere in the past, boxing properly dead and buried by the MMA, an acronym that means something like martial arts multiple, whatever is that. Art my ass, fighting is not art, just as boxing has never been the "sweet science", as the ancients said, though, before this MMA elbows and kicks to the face, it seems boxing is an art - practiced, Say, for characters much, much more interesting than these fools pretending to be smart and a struggling business called Octagon.

Galvão will chronicle the UFC fight today (or MMA fight? After all, what is the sport, UFC or MMA? ****ing ****, this), will rave to the sport, its growth, popularity, money that moves, professionalism, to idolatry by the fighters, the amazing Brazilian dominating the octagon and can not walk down the street without giving autographs, they are celebrities, who are awesome, Brazil-sil-sil, save the Gracie family, and the fight will be on TV bars and homes, and the best moments are in the "Fantastico" and "Jornal Nacional" (two famous shows in Brazilian TV), plus all the sports programs of the station you speak of this fight for days, and will become the home of MMA and the UFC, as if there were not already enough violence out there to dispense with blows to the face, broken teeth, blood gushing, people screaming in prime time, for millions, millions of viewers all ******ed who think it's cool that Globo aired.

I do not know who will not fight. Minotauro? Sitting Bull? Fantomas? The Mighty Hulk? Ted Boy Marino? Electra? Achilles, the Matador? Blackbeard? Verdugo? Mummy? Tiger Paraguay?

Minotauro, it´s okay. It makes some sense. But the fighters now have first and last name and are taken seriously.

So it was the best telecatch. Nobody took **** seriously.

    The world is over, baby.
    "

Telecatch was our WWE.....big pro-wrestling show back in the day.....

Vic, is he also talking **** about 'encouraging' to beat up minorities? Surely that's just pure ignorance on his behalf?!?! Again!

No doubt......no clue at all....And yes, he is talking like if the MMA people are some type of neo-nazis or something :huh:huh WTF...He didn´t watch TUF for sure :lol:because many of the guys on TUF are northeasterners or northerners (at least 60% of them, you don´t see that in any other sport tbh), and many MMA legends are northeasterners like the Nog Brothers, Thiago Pitbull, etc......Aldo is from Amazonas !!! Probably MMA is the only sport where an amazonense is great !!

Yes, Record ( the rival station) announced the TUF semi-finalists already...bunch of idiots.....:-(

Damn! Hit's home that MMA really is a love it or hate it sport where ever you live

Brazil has a big enough fan base to support MMA, and really is the birth place for it in most regards. So I guess the author will have to get used to it

:rofl The guy is an idiot. And as Stoo said, if he wants to be hostile about it, in a country that has loved combat and innovated in combat for nigh on a century, then that's his tough luck :D

Good thing for MMA fans in Brazil is that if you have Globo supporting a sport...then, this sport will be really big no matter what !
And like I said in another thread, MMA is the second sport these days around here.....

On appearances I can understand his disgust if that's the right word that someone like Wanderlei would be in a postion to replace Senna as the pride of Brazil (no pun intended) all head tattoo's, snarls and soccer kicks.

But out of the cage guys like Royce, Vitor, Anderson, The Nogs, Big Foot, Aldo, Werdum, and even Wandy since father hood, are some of the most laid back, approachable and humble guys you could want to meet.

I was at UFC 120, and as Wandy was making his way cage side a huge que of fans stopped him wanting an autograph, pic or just to shake hands. And he accommodated every single one of them

    :deal They are !

Aldo is probably the nicest sportman in Brazil these days....very very humble, really nice guy !
Shogun besides the accent from Paraná:lol: is a nice guy as well.....I met his brother Murilo Ninja in Predador FC last year, another nice guy, etc....many of them are like that, the list is big....

What is Shogun's accent like Vic? The equivalent of a 'redneck' IB the States for instance? Or is it the other way and he sounds upper class? ;-)

As for Stoo's excellent post above, I think the guy should be happy Brazil had such a charismatic and talented man as Senna, but shouldn't be comparing these guys to him.

Looking for 'the next Senna' or someone that embodies what he brought to the table is a waste of time because their will never be one. The writer should be proud of the influence and art of Gracie jiu jitsu, which goes back before Ayrton Senna, and proud of the headway Brazilians are making in the sport today.

Brazilian boxing heroes are few and far between (and Freitas was no Jofre even if he was massively famous :D) but in MMA a lot of the top fighters are from Brazil. I would be immensely proud.

Again, he's a ****** so who cares what he thinks. Anyone is entitled to an opinion, just as I am allowed to discount as obviously biased an opinion as that proclaimed in the article.

    I think none of these....:think
They (Shogun and Ninja and many Paranaenses) speak really fast and they transform 4 (or more !) words into only one ! It´s the better explanation about it......lol

    Yeah, agreed.....
and I mean, Senna is almost a God here.....really, everyone loves the man !! Really everyone !!

Today things are better, and jiu-jitsu has a better reputation, even if not so great yet.....but something like 10 years ago, hell yeah, jiu-jitsu had a bad name for sure....

You look at the history of Vale Tudo and the Gracies in Brazil there's plenty examples of crackdowns on the sport with the general population joining in when there was a particularly bad injury.
