“I’m going down to 140 and I want to fight Pacquiao for his belt because that’s the belt that I have never won. I have never won the junior welterweight belt before. There should be no 143, 141, 142 or all this other stuff. I’m going to 140 and fighting at his weight. I’m ready to make the sacrifice once again to get down to 140 or whatever it is. I used to make a big sacrifice to get to lightweight. I know how to make the weight. I know how to get down there and get to the weight and be strong so I can do it one more time to fight Pacquiao.”

    Bob Arum

Remember when Pac had that interview after Mosley said we was willing to go down in weight and Pac in the video said he'd be interested? Suddenly Shane was announcing that the fight was on, and Arum put his foot down and basically said, "not gonna happen."

in any case, I'm glad they didn't fight at 140. Mosley would have killed himself to make 140. At least now, if Pac and Shane do fight, it'll probably be at 147.

I think at that point pacquiao & roach them selves didnt even know what pacquiao was capable of. The cotto fight solidified the fact that pac could fight elite welters...hence arum lining up pacquiao with more in stable fighters. Kind of leads me to believe that pacquiao could potentially go on to fight margarito if he could ever go on to earn his licesnse back

then arum can stick whoever beats pacquiao in the ring with mayweather. the money will be relatively the same no matter who it is...arum rapes all his fighters anyways..

the 80% arum would get off two arum fighters fighting one another is probably much greater than the 30% he would get off pacquiao's 50/50 for fighting floyd

Roach said there was 2 reasons.

Not enough money and Shane was too good.

This was before the Cotto fight fight, I would think Mosley was relieved Pac did not take the offer.

So in the unlikely event of Shane loosing, he would have saved the ESB board 100 threads about Mosley being drained as an excuse?

    JOKES!

I thought it was cause they wanted to fight Floyd. I guess not...

Shane Mosley at 140 would've been a weight-drained corpse about 100 times worse than Oscar @147, and the same people accusing Pac of ducking Mosley would've been crying about Mosley being shot and drained. Who the **** wants to see that ****. Pac beat Cotto at 145, a much harder challenge than Shane at 140.

Pac vs Mosley @140 = Pac in about 5 rounds

Shane only came out with this offer when Pac/Cotto was hours away from being signed. It was a desperate attempt by Shane to get a payday at the time.

Let's see some evidence of that. Some of us were alive at the time as well, BB.

I appreciate that, BB. Not quite hours, eh brotha?

Seeing as how Pacquiao/Clottey was made less than 2 days after negotiations fell through on Mayweather/Pacquiao... I'd say 3 days is plenty of time.
