    Folks,

I got my '97 fight tape of Larry Holmes against Maurice Harris off the Tues. night mismatches USA network rolling along for review........

I admit, Holmes is 48, flabby a bit and looking ahead at Foreman, but Holmes still was the pressure man and ring general overall against Harris...

Mo Harris is very lean in 1997 at around 200 pounds.... Harris was tuned and spry for sure.... However, Harris had no power to bother or hurt Holmes with.... All Harris had were pesky jabs and okay rights to annoy Holmes with..... Harris did well over 10 rds, but no way he did enough to warrant the nod..... Holmes was slowed due to age and 240+ pounds, but still pro like and seasoned....

    Holmes won a close shave......

    C'mon back.......

For the record, here in 2011, I thought Mo Harris was pathetic against an awkward Tony Thompson recently....... Thompson KO 2 Harris.........

Thompson at 40 looked pretty bad too in that farce / fight......

Dude, for the 1990s, Holmes' "Club-Fights" with "Ribalta, Ferguson & Harris" are his best fights of that level..... If you like Holmes, you gotta see them on tape.......

 Bill, I may disagree with you as often as agree but, dammit, anyone who has a tape of Holmes/Harris and watches it on a whim is okay with me, unless they're also a serial killer or something. But barring that possibility, you're alright, brother. :deal

I just stumbled acrossed it tonight.... My tape also has copies of "Duran-Buchanan" and "Jones-Griffin 2."

I also had leftover tape to fill, so I recorded Ed Norton and Liv Tyler in "The Hulk" as well. I liked that version of the hulk..... That other flick James Woo made around 2002 sucked long pool stick.....

I watched this fight too. Harris had a **** record, but a good fighter with good boxing technique. He was Emanuel Stewards guy. Steward used him as a sparring partner a lot for Lennox Lewis. I remember thinking it was a bad fight for Holmes, he was lucky to get the win.

I saw this an eon ago and thought Harris edged it but no way known he was getting the nod over Holmes in any case.

But what I most remember is Mo cleaning out James Thunder's cage in an upset of sorts when giving away a good amount of weight.

Harris had some talent imo but his chin sucked and he was only a smallish Heavy at best but he was decent for a bit.

Actually Harris is a big guy, 6'4 and has good boxing skills. I think he was poorly managed and thrown to the wolves too early.

  13. Harris should of got the nod, He won. Kind of funny how Holmes critizes Foreman for losing to Morrison when he got beat by a joke of a fighter like Harris.

I gave Harris like 3 of the first 4 rounds but from then on Holmes was beating him and rocked him a few times. Holmes had Harris's timing and rythm down by the halfway point in the fight and by the end I had him winning by a round or two. Had it been a 12 round fight I think Holmes would've won a wider decision.
