For all his power and greatness Alexis Arguello comes across to me as non flashy. He patiently dissects his opponent, usually picking up the pace steadily but calmly as he goes about his business in tradesman like fashion until the time is right and they are dispatched. This finish admittedly can be quite striking given his big power and timing.

60's Ali comes instantly to mind as flashy, very much so. Blinding speed, decent power, excellent movement and a charismatic presence and style. Simply surreal speed for a heavyweight both hand and foot.

Not sure I would describe Toney as "flashy" so is it only relative to McCallum?

Arguello - an unflashy fighter if ever there was one.

Ali - the definition of flashy. Just goes to show that flashiness and substance are not mutually exclusive.

Good point. SRL also had that supreme grit and determination despite being one of the most dazzling ever.

Yes that’s pretty much the only difference between the two. McCallum is “less flashy “. Would you agree? Toney just seems slightly more aesthetically pleasing than McCallum (To me at least) The only way I can describe it is flash
