Flores KOs Heavyweight in 3...but will he stay Active or Not?

I don't know. He said he wasn't ready for the adamek fight. So, he laid back and trained some more according to him.

 

I read reports that he is fighting Brathwaite in a IBF title eliminator.

This guy is a mystery.

 

He should have takent he Adamek fight.

 

Don't really know what that means but a true friend would tell him to go for the title fight.

After those negotiations, Adamek won't fight Flores until New Years 2010 (and that is only if he earns the mandatory).

So Flores will need to stay active and fight another 2-3 fights after this one in the next 6 months, if he does not want to lose touch with his fanbase (and to move up the rankings).

Flores is a top 5 Cruiserweight based on skill, and I want him to stay active so he can fight for any title by the end of the year......something tells me, however, that it will be winter again before we see Flores back in the ring.

I hope I am wrong.

 

This fight has been on boxrec for about 5-6 weeks, but the opponent had not been announced right away.

 

I like Flores but he's back to cruiserweight no-man's land. His bargaining chip was his victory over Darnell Wilson but given the latter's recent performances, that win no longer carries any real weight.

 

I disagree that he's a top 5 Cruiserweight. I wouldn't even necessarily put him in my top 10. He hasn't done anything to justify that. He has one good win on his resume against Ding, and while I like Ding, he is not a top Cruiser either. Not to mention the fact that fight was a year ago.

I don't know where Flores thinks he has all this cache off of one decent win. Beat another decent top 10-15 type Cruiser and then we can start talking justified title shot.

 

Ding was in the top 10 at the time and on a pretty good hot streak, so he does have a good win (which is why Ring ranks him at #10).

I agree that he needs 2-3 more quick fights after this one to make some noise and get people interested.

 

Do you know some of the guys Maccarinelli defended against? Or even Ding, who got a titleshot in germany instead of Flores, after losing to him?

Point is, many worse fighters have fought for titles in recent times, both in and out of the Cruiserweight division.

 

Ding's ranking was an inflated one. In actuality, during his win streak there were cruiserweight fighters like Tokarev and Arslan (who have both defeated him), Cunningham, Huck, Bell, Jones, Mormeck, Enzo, Brudov, and not to mention a guy named David Haye. Even Hide and Braithewaite would beat him. Not exactly a strong top-10 fighter.
