The WBO title is a minor title in my eyes, they always have crap defenses.

About Ding, I won't argue that anyone deserves a title shot coming off of a loss, but I will point out that he had previously beaten Dale Brown (former 4 time world title contender), Kelvin Davis (former IBF Champion), and Emanuel Nwodo (top 10 guy).

To me that's more impressive than anything Flores has done.

After that run, Flores beat Ding. Ok, nice win, but then what?? The answer is nothing.

I'm not saying Flores isn't a good fighter, but why doesn't he step up and fight a decent fringe guy like Braithwaite to show the fans he's legit?

I agree, he needs to stay active for the next few months, and try and work his way into position for a bigger fight.

He says hes been training hard in Vegas, it will be interesting to see how the rust affects Flores in this fight.

I'm a fan of Flores. He's Mexican and Mormon like me.

I too, was very disappointed that BJ was out so long. He's a decent fighter who I think with diligence and activity could develop into a good fighter. He's well spoken and bright and comes off well on TV.

I think he's half white American and half Mexican, De La Hoya style. :D

    Is this fight still on?

Adamek apparently lost his opponent, I hope they dont try to throw another fight together in a rush.

Lets get some more votes in!

What does everyone think: does BJ go on holiday again, or does he string some more wins together now?

Seems like people think Flores will sit out for some time, even if he wins big tomorrow.

    Two IBF purse bids cancelled!

Two IBF purse bids scheduled for tomorrow (1/22/09) have been cancelled. "The auction for the cruiserweight eliminator for the #1 spot between current #2 B.J. Flores and #6 Wayne Braithwaite was canceled after Flores decided to go in another direction." The auction for the IBF bantamweight eliminator between Silence Mabuza and Yonnhy Perez was canceled after the two sides reached an agreement to promote the fight in South Africa on March 27th.

Boxrec has Matt Hicks listed as Flores' opponent.

Hicks is 13-3 with 12 KOs

BJ Flores weighed in at 207 lbs. His opponent banger Matt Hicks weighed in at 261! :scaredas:

Flroes is fighting a big Heavyweight after a long layoff, could be trouble.
