Sauna or brekky buffet for Flores

Incentives...BJ Flores during a light glove session with his brother Jeremy at the Star City gymnasium. Picture: Gregg Porteous Source: The Daily Telegraph

BRASH American BJ Flores has only one more choice to make before fighting IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green - does he hit the sauna or enjoy an indulgent breakfast.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal that Team Flores has pushed for, and been granted, a series of "bonus clauses" in their fight contract which could mean the undefeated Las Vegan arrives for today's weigh-in lighter than ever before in his career.
While neither camp would reveal details, it's understood Flores will receive additions to his purse if he comes in 1kg lighter, with further money added if he wants to punt on being 2kg beneath the 90.7kg limit.
It's understood there are no further incentives beyond that.
Having once cleared his bank account of its last $5000 to bet on himself, Flores is no stranger to a flutter. And while he has never weighed in under 90kg, Team Flores trainer Jacob Chavez is confident his athletically gifted charge will still weigh around 94kg on fight night - which would be significantly heavier than Green.

"What am I gunna weigh in at?" a coy Flores laughed when pushed on the clause yesterday. "No comment. Right now I'm not worried about weight and I'm not worried about contract clauses. My only concern is taking that IBO world title home to Las Vegas."
Green is revered in Perth for his charity work and only two nights ago, after being asked to appear on a Channel 7 telethon, donated $10,000 from his own back account. So is this simply another case of his unending generosity?
"Oh, I dunno about that," Green laughed. "BJ Flores can weigh in at the cruiserweight limit and earn four times the money I did for my first world title shot. It's a good earn. But he and his team wanted more money. We didn't think he was worth anywhere near what they were asking but said, 'OK, let's make this interesting' ... "
So what will Flores hit the scales at today?
"Don't know, don't care," Green shrugged. "They asked for more money and, despite not being worth it, we're giving them the chance to earn it if they really want it. So if BJ wants to come in below the cruiserweight limit, that's his call. I know that he likes a dollar so there is certainly a chance of it happening."

Saw this in this morning's paper - strange one it is.

Flores seems to be quite happy about it.

I hope he doesn't try to come in under the CW limit, otherwise I won't be watching this fight.

    Right on cue, Typhoid Germinara.

Listen clown, you've claimed everything from Flores taking a dive to the fight being at catchweight.

Now you're on here claiming to have been right and expecting apologies

You've posted all over here that you've put money on Flores to win - that's all that needs to be said about exactly how certain you were of it being at catchweight :yep

"Papa needs some brand new shoes ooh yeah"

You should be spending your Centrelink payments on necessities Typhoid, not gambling it on longshots :D

  12. Maybe he can get an incentive to fight with 1 hand in the first round? Lets make it interesting.
