The whole "Cotto wasn't ready" argument for why he turned down a fight with Mayweather at 140 is amusing. Cotto was 24 going on 25 at the time. He had about 23 fights, had a major belt, and was ranked no.3 in the division. This is very similar to a fighter named Andre Berto. No one is saying Berto isn't ready. In fact, many are saying that he needs to fight the top guys right now. Cotto had a better resume then Berto at the time and a better amatuer background. Somehow he wasn't ready and Berto is.
