Both terrific boxers, both with ?????s about their careers for different reasons, Mayweather is a consensus top 3 best ever at 130 lbs beside JCC & Arguello.... Sanchez is a top 3 consensus at 126 lbs with Pep & Saddler for company.
Both had roughly 8 or 9 defences but ultimately, who looked the better/more impressive fighter at these weights ?

    Mayweather or Sanchez ??????

Ive seen more of Floyd at 130 than Sal at 126 but from what Ive seen it looks like a tight contest to me so far... Im still working on getting more Sal San footage.

Sanchez was a brilliant fighter, but he woulda had ALOT of trouble with Floyd's speed. Sal much prefered fighters who came to him. I think Floyd at 130 woulda decisioned Sal.

Floyd, due to his distinct speed advantage. Otherwise this is a very close call.

Mayweather on speed and defense, Sanchez's excellent defense and good speed werent quite as good but his engine and combination work while boxing/countering were very special. Mayweather a little better overall and wins if they square off

Floyd looked a little more convincing overall, but we must remember he was not facing the type of competition that Sanchez was.

Put a natural superfeather (though somewhat green) Azumah Nelson in with him and a natural featherweight Wilfredo Gomez and we may not see Mayweather look so flash. Heck, I think even Pat Ford could be a handful. He was an excellent fighter before Pedroza vanquished him with his career best performance.

Sanchez fought much better competition IMO. Mayweather dominated his opponents easier and probably looked more dynamic.

Castilio, LaPorte, and also Cowdell were damn solid challengers on top of what SS mentioned regarding the quality Sanchez faced throughout his reign.

Although Mayweather is super fast, I think a 15 round fight at the 128 catchweight Floyd wanted against Naz.....Sanchez breaks him down late or wins a close decision.

I didnt mean H2H as Floyd has the obvious size advantage but as fleaman says, we have never seen FMJ in a 15 rd fight, Sanchez stamina is legendary & even tho Floyd`s stamina is great too - arguably the best today - who`s to say that Sanchez wouldnt pull away from rds 13-15 as Floyd tires, we know Sal aint gonna tire, he barely broke sweat vs guys like Nelson or Gomez while constantly on the move & the Nelson fight reached 15 rds.
Sanchez also has the chin to take Floyd`s possibly harder punch & Floyd has never been in with a man that can counter-punch close to his level with close to his accuracy.... it would certainly be fascinating.
Id pay to see it no problem.

Floyd does spar 15miniute rounds, with interchanging sparring partners, I don't think he tires down the stretch

Not knocking Sanchez's comp, but is Floyds getting underrated?

Corrales - top10 P4P at the time and after. 33-0 (28KOs), 5 IBF title fights, weighed 147 on fight night, in his prime, betting favourate

G Hernandez - around P4P level, Linear champ, 13 world title fights, win over an old Azzumah amongst others

Manfredy - fresh off beating IBF 130lb champ (at LW)

Chavez - future 2 weight champ

    C Hernandez - future titlist

That list isn't a bum of the month tour

Mayweather's a demon trainer. He sometimes goes a full hour without a drink of water.

Genaro hernandez was at the end of the road when Floyd beat him, he'd looked really ordinary in his previous fights.

Not that he would ever have bothered Floyd too much.

This is how I see it too. Sanchez was a great 15 round fighter.
