    Yes, really.

    Statistics don't allow for circumstances.

If you told me that in your opinion Floyd was the greatest fighter who ever lived, I honestly wouldn't argue with you. I'd disagree, but I wouldn't argue. On a head to head basis, he's one of the greatest. You may or may not know this, but I'm a huge fan of Roy Jones. And on a head to head basis, I rate him extremely high. In my opinion, when Roy fought at SMW in the mid 90's, he was one of the greatest fighters who's ever lived. But based on his resume, you couldn't put him top 5. Floyd is the same.

Floyd has never beaten a fellow ATG fighter while they were prime. All things considered, he could never be rated in the top 5. Look at the guys who Ray Leonard beat: Duran, Benitez, Hearns and Hagler. Floyd doesn't have a single win that comes close to those, and I don't know if I could put Ray in the top 5-10 of all time.

lol you wonder why? Ali didn't act like a complete moron every chance he had to speak with the media, nor did he show his azz as soon as someone asked him a question he didn't like, like Floyd has done numerous times simply because he's so insecure and emotional. Ali was a true professional. Floyd is a talented fighter but a very unintelligent person especially when it comes to socializing or speaking on sensitive issues pertaining to himself.
Just this recent quote tells you everything. Floyd wants to continue calling himself the best ever yet won't accept challenges from fighters that truly pose threats to him. Its a complete joke, Floyd is a complete joke. 48 fights and only a few of those guys were legit threats and every single fight he was the glaring favorite to win yet when you have prime Mosley, Tsyu, Williams, Frietas, prime Pac, prime GGG floyd won't dare step in the ring with them because all of those fights he woudn't have been a heavy favorite in.

NO HE DID NOT! He didn't call either shane or Oscar out until they had several losses and were coming down from their prime, mid 2000s. Oscar was already 2 weight classes above Floyd during Oscar's prime so of course he wasn't calling Oscar out. Shane however, Floyd wouldn't dare speak of and didn't move up until Shane left for welterweight. Around 2003 the most Floyd said is "ONE DAY i would like to face the best like Shane or Oscar" and that isn't calling them out.

Which weight class are you referring to? There are countless welterweights that were better fighters than Floyd.

What Floyd doesn't understand is that greatness has more to do than just what one's record is.

Floyd fights not to win, but rather not to lose which fails to inspire audiences in a sport that markets itself as being inspirational.

FYI - I'd rather pay to watch a theater screening of one of Ali's old fights than the phoop that Floyd is trying to peddle on 9/12.

Now this is a point most overlook!

The people who say Floyd is TBE are the same people that watch him and think "I wish he was a bit more entertaining..."

I know casuals that scream he's the best ever, but they can't watch 12 rounds of him due to boredom.

You simple CANNOT be TBE and keep going THE FULL THIRTY SIX with EVERY fighter you face. If you're THAT good, you'll get rid of your opponents.

And PLEASE do not say that Floyd CHOOSES to go the full distance, as he does not, and you know it.

It really comes down to this. Do you respect KO's of Foreman and Frazier more than KO's of Corrales and Castillo.

That is an oversimplification. But at the hearts lies the gist of this comparison.

And for me it's such an easy answer.

Yes and the other side of the coin is do you admire the consistently beautiful technical dismantling of world class opponents, including Canelo Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao, Juan Manuel Marquez and Ricky Hatton... or the trench warfare battles of Maidana 1 and Cotto? Or the absolute slaughter of Mosley and Corrales... he has something for everybody.

But those 'dismantlings' are always tainted.

    Canelo - c/w
Manny - drugs tests, years after it should have happened
JMM - dragged up two w/c's
    Hatton - Blow up LWW

Floyd NEVER fights people where it's 50/50.

Talk about this 'A-Side' nonsense all you like, I think he has doubts.

But you can critique most fighter's wins and circumstances of them meeting, try it for several others and you'd probably be fairer on Mayweather. You can also find plus points for performances you critique, there's not merely one rule for Floyd's wins.

He never beat prime Frazier. Joe was damaged goods by the rematch.
