He wasn't damaged goods. He looked good even after the Foreman knockout loss.

He was only 30 years old in the 2nd Ali fight which isn't very old for a HW.

TBE sounds like he took up cigarette smoking. I hope berto buries him.
    That would be awesome.

watch kliturd try to argue that friaser was a busted flush at 30......

and wlad on the other hand was green at 30 but prime at 38.

    kliturd selfdestructs once again

Floyd is a complete imbecile. Haymon is the brains of the floyd empire. Floyd cant think for himself which is why you see him contradict himself so much. Hes told what to say but from time to time he speaks his own mind and his lack of intelligence shows.

How many of those are/were great fighters?

Oscar was in great shape and he was extremely motivated. But he wasn't prime, and his fight with Floyd was only his second one in three years.

Canelo was only young and there was no need for a catchweight.

In my honest opinion, Cotto was never the same after Marg.

Ricky Hatton was never a WW, but it wouldn't have made a difference had the fight been at LWW.

The win over JMM would have been great had he not deliberately come in over weight. But like the Hatton fight, it wouldn't have made any difference.

I don't rate his win over Manny that high. He was a shell of his former self and he clearly had an injury.

Shane was a long way past his best and had struggled with Mayorga.

Let's picture an alternate reality where Floyd fights Hatton before Ricky got to Tszyu. Hatton wins. Then, instead of beating Kostya, the Hall of Famer destroys Hatton in 2. One fight later, Floyd avenges the loss to Hatton.

In this same alternate reality, Ali dominates and stops Frazier the first time around. Forget the trilogy, there's no rematch necessary.

Do you really think there's a scenario where people paint that as a positive for Floyd?

Arguing implies there's a case against it. There isn't. Joe Frazier wasn't prime at 30. I don't know how to be more blunt than that.

I must've missed the alternate reality where Joe went on to rule for a decade and didn't go 3-3-1 in his final 7 fights after Foreman took him out.

After the first loss to Foreman he lost Ali twice and then Foreman again.

You mean to tell me that losing to Ali and Foreman means you're over the hill?

    FFS, it's Ali and Foreman.

Fraziers fight weight was 205 pounds not 225 pounds or even 215 pounds....he slowed significantly after 71.Its not about age as it was styles the reality is like Tyson he had a short prime,he wasn't as defense savvy or hard chinned liked Tyson either, odds were stacked against him in those ali fights yet gave him hell 3 times anyway, simply cause he could apply pressure.

You won't find a Joe Frazier fan who will claim he was prime for Bugner and Quarry II.

However, you can clearly find plenty of Ali fanatics happy to prop him up as though he were.

Bottom line is Ali had one chance to beat prime Frazier, and didn't.

I don't know whether Floyd actually believes it or is doing it because he was in the Money persona and on all access. I know he has severe OCD and can't process much past 'if somebody lost their whole career is tarnished', at least 50% of people believe he lost to Castillo already and it's not harmed his achievements, nobody holds Ali or Lennox Lewis or Hagler or Leonard's losses against them... big picture. He said ''has manny pacquiao been outboxed by erik morales' in one interview, who gives a ****, it's a sport. He does these dumb claims for publicity often but I'm not sure if he believes this one, he also said anything can happen in boxing when asked about whether Berto can beat him, he knows one mistake and one accurate fist or one unmotivated turn out can end in tears.

Agreed and also the reason its clear as day why Tyson is a nightmare for Ali for different reasons why I put the klitchkos over him...to the thread..idk..Mayweather has some valid points,i would say p4p he dominated more in a more convincing way,ali himself didn't exactly fight world beaters in their prime in that era as a top fighter up until Frazier.

As a whole..well Ali transformed the sport like no one else since Tyson ,but that is not on skill that is his antics outside the ring.
