How did Floyd duck Margarito? didnt he lose to Williams shortly after calling Floyd out? If Mayweather gets **** for beating champions on winning streaks the worls would go crazy if he fought a guy coming of a loss
Says who? Who are you, inspector gadget or some ****? It looks like you're on that same **** Hans is on...:hi:
I like how the guy who got out-boxed by Carlos Quintana at 147 and had to rematch him, beats Floyd now. That's the big duck theory huh? Please. And Williams moved up in weight after Quintana. So there is apparently some "magical time period" they've fabricated where this fight was appropriate to take place. Perhaps the alternate universe where they clearly reside. Did these guys even watch Paul Williams vs Carlos Quintana I? Yea, great, he came back and won the rematch in spectacular fashion after getting thoroughly outboxed for 12 rounds in the 1st bout. But we're talking about Carlos Quintana...A good boxer, but certainly nowhere near the level of a Mayweather. Reality kids.
A prime Paul Williams would have troubled Floyd. The closest thing at the time to a welterweight Tommy Hearns but without the power in the right hand.
People kept harping on the fact that Castillo style fight would trouble Floyd again. But Floyd learned a lot from that fight. Floyd learned to deal with the bigger fighters on the inside.
Should not compare Williams to Hearns. Not even remotely close in my opinion. Respectfully disagree. First, Hearns had a far superior jab. A really great jab. It'd be one of the best in the business no matter what era he fought in. Secondly, Hearns was a better boxer, much more polished than Williams. There is just no comparison to the amateur background, and experience difference. Williams as talented as he was, was sloppy with his footwork and the execution of his attacks left him off balance at times. He wasn't exactly what you would call a sharp shooter, know what I mean? Hearns had far better precision, footwork, defense, I mean... I seriously couldn't name a single thing Williams can do better than Hearns. I think the threat of Williams is clearly over-stated, and his first bout struggles with Quintana in a loss clearly showcase what I'm talking about. If Carlos Quintana could exploit those discrepancies, you better believe Mayweather would have, with more efficiency. For the record, I think Hearns is Mayweather kryptonite at 147.
I agree. You can clearly see a progression in his style after his test with Castillo to compensate for dealing with bigger guys. In the process, developed an excellent (and under-rated) inside game himself.
I kinda look at more the size difference than skills really. Of course Williams cant shine Hearns shoes.
Until B level Maidana took him life and death doing the same pressure thing. Floyd could never, ever defeat an ATG pressure fighter. He's lucky he never fought one because it's a certain L.
