Floyd and Marquez are nothing alike - dont just say 'they are counter punchers ....'

The story hasn't gone away and it probably never will do....

Manny in 08 was the best fighter on the planet yet no matter who else he beat JMM always had his number.

I personally have 4 Jmm up if it counts.

However this then doesn't mean that Floyd all of a sudden with his quicker yet less powerful punches matches the same outcome as the JMM fights.

JMM is absolutely offensive minded naturally and is way more of a box puncher than Floyd who is a sublimely gifted defensive fighter who threw single shots rather than combinations.

Other than JMM every vs like for like is heavily favoured in Mannys direction.

    Peace.

I've never heard anyone compare them style wise.

I've seen it a lot actually, thankfully not as often anymore. Usually by die hard floyd fanatics who liked one boxer, or complete idiot troll thread makers like MVC. Most recently a couple in the Terrence Crawford / Margarito thread.

Amazingly stupid comparison if made. I like both fighters as fighters FWIW but very, very different.

Even being a huge JMM fan before he made his 'debut' to noobs fighting Manny the first time, it was clear as day how different their styles were. I've never shy'd away from showing my disgust of floyd's character, but I never could pick against him. Hating a fighter and still seeing their brilliance isn't a hard concept. I hated Larry Bird growing up, but I still knew he was amazing.

One only needs to see the shots he could make when he wanted a Big Mac to see how great he was.

You should watch JMM pre 2004 and see how he was a careful defensive counter puncher first.
You should watch Floyd pre 2004 and see how he was very much offensive minded always trying to hurt his opponents.

Good points. JMM significantly changed his style in a blatant attempt to become more marketable (it worked). Floyd became far more defensive minded as he moved up the weight ladder.

I'd still say the comparison is a stretch at best, but this is a great point.

They're both counterpunchers, but JMM has bigger, denser, heavier balls with high sperm count. Floyd has a ghastly asterisk shaped mole between his legs.

And obviously both needed PEDs to beat Pac.

You're right. If the Mayweather vs Pacquaio fight ever comes off I think Manny kills him

Maybe not style wise, but every Floyd fanatics have said that because manny lost to JMM, and JMM was schooled by Floyd..... therefore floyd will pwn Manny in their prime. The way they do math is 1+1=11.
