I had to stop reading here. You messed it up. Because Mayweather isnt just some stranger. he is recognized as the p4p #1 He isnt just some nobody. With that said , anyone in the know who would want to step up to this challenge knows that he could quite easily lose.

If Margarito had beaten Paul Williams, this thread might have retained a shred of credibility. Floyd doesn't have to "keep his word and fight Margarito at all costs because he said he would. The subtext of that statement is, "Keep winning and you'll get your shot". Margarito did not keep winning, so why would he get a shot? It's funny that some people can't see this.

I am one who has to agree completely with such obvious statements. Mayweather has no reason or obligation to give anyone a shot other than a mandatory challenger for his title or another title holder for a unification bout, completely out of the question against a former title holder who lost a title fight just recently ( Mosley or Margarito). I thought this thread was about a hypothetical bout Mayweather could take while he's waiting for that De La Hoya fight in September... And if that was against Antonio Margarito as a tune-up fight, whether he would beat this individual in particular with such ease... But of course, he would never take Antonio Margarito as a voluntary defense, tune-up or whatever - not like Cotto may take Gomez and Hoya takes on Forbes. I also find it funny that others can't see that as well.

 

Hasn't it been proven already that Maragrito is nothing more than a mssg board hype job ??Why is this nonsense rearing its ugly head again ??Can we talk about fighters who actually get fights made and not those who always have a TBA next to their opponents name such is always the case with Antonio !

It has been proven that Margarito can't demand for anything. And I am not sure that he demanded for that Mayweather ( or Hatton) and Cotto ( or Mosley) fight in the Golden Johnson post fight interview in MSG but it was translated with those words. I also believe that Max asked him back that in case that the winners of those bouts decide to meet later, if he would agree to other fights... And I understood that he said that he was open to conversations with anyone. I do agree with the nonsense of bringing this match up all the time just b'cause Floyd didn't fight him back then ( for 8 mill or whateva)...

 

I never thought he was worth the 8 mil before ...And why didn't they throw that money to somebody else when they couldn't get Floyd to commit ?? Hmm makes you wonder what their agenda was the whole time !

Floyd is not the in need of a tune up at 147 Oscar does ..I thinks its smarter for him to do since he hasn't fought at welter in over 20 yrs ..People kill me with their demands of certain fighters but never give it to those who for some reason can't get fights done !
