Kirk, I'm not sure if you know, but the WBC MW title is a complete farce. Why should a fighter like Canelo who has a great resume and fights champions and top guys be dictated too by a corrupt filthy organization like the WBC. I'll give you a quick history lesson: -2012 Canelo Alvarez -Miguel Cotto was a fight that was being discussed for 2013 -2013 Cotto (the favorite) takes on a formidable opponent in Austin Trout (underdog). Unfortunately in a twist of events Trout took Cotto to school and won. -2013 Canelo now faces Trout and wins -2013 Canelo gets life time opportunity to fight Floyd -2014 Canelo fights the best JrMW in Lara in a match for JrMW supremacy despite having other options against more popular but lower tier fighters -2014 MIGUEL COTTO gets opportunity to fight the MW champion Martinez for the WBC strap at a CATCHWEIGHT -2014 - 2015 Canelo fights a couple more top JrMWs -2015- MIGUEL COTTO defends his new WBC FARCE at another CATCHWEIGHT against Daniel Geale -2015 Canelo and Cotto finally gets made LATE in the year, yet again at another CATCHWEIGHT, again at COTTO'S REQUEST after the Trout derailment in 2013, and also after Cotto declined the fight in 2014 -2016 Canelo makes GGG offer for fight at 155. GGG REFUSES -2016 Canelo fights a gimme fight aganst Khan -2016 GBP sends Golovkin a 10 million dollar offer with PPV upside for a fight at the full MW limit. GGG REJECTS OFFER -2016 Canelo returns to his weightclass and becomes the Jr.MW champion again -2016 Canelo sends GGG 15 million dollar offer. GGG declines offer almost as fast as he declinied Ward's offer for 168 -2017 Canelo eyes Chavez since GGG is being very difficult to deal with Ggg has never made more than 5 million for a fight, and if you couple together his last 5 fights, he still doesn't make 15 million dollars + the opportunity to become the FACE of boxing, and become the NEW CASH COW
It seems you still don't understand the point If Canelo wants to weight in @ 155 ok fine but if the fights is for the Middleweight belt (weight limit 160) his opponent should be allowed to weight in @160 which is the limit since age's. It's a question how do you respect boxing traditions, rules and history. Fighters like Canelo who are very popular just want to get every advantages they can buy
But its ok for Golovkin to fight Ward a SMW at a catchweight of 164 for his titles? GTFO! Ggg is going to retire with a pathetic resume, and when he is forgotten after his retirement he would have NO ONE to blame but his GGGreedy ass.
Here's a fact for you. Canelo; Us Mexicans we don't f*#k about..... GGG; Give me my belt..... Canelo; Ok, sorry....
Isal Im not trying to pretentious, but... Im not sure what the point of the post was. What in the post you quoted of mine, alludes to me not knowing any of that. My post was specifically talking about Canelos offer to G for 155. Golovkin not taking the most recent offer of 15 million is a bad look (imo) and I cant say Canelo is ducking him anymore, but has nothing to do with back when Canelo gave the belt to him instead of fight him, which is what my post was addressing. I no longer consider Canelo ducking G. That doesn't mean he never did. As for Canelo not wanting to be dictated to... cool... than he should probably quit paying sanctioning bodies his money to fight for their belts. But he willingly does so (for example, he chose Smith as an opponent, right? It isnt because Smith had a top 5 resume at 154 or because it was a fight fans wanted to see, it was because he wanted that belt. Hence hes willingly going after belts that have rules attached to them... such as mandatories.
For f*ck's sake.... how dense and stupid are you ASOL? You are trying to equate two fighters from two different divisions with two guys in the same division. You've been told this many times already, yet you keep acting like they are the same situation. Seriously, how f*ckin stupid are you to need to be told the same thing over and over?
Alvarez didn't invent the catchweight idea, nor is it illegal. It has been done by many fighters before, including ATG fighters. If Alvarez is going to give a man who has zero notable fights and wins a payday, then he will do it in his own terms. Didn't Mayweather do the same to him and he accepted?. If you want the spotlight, you take risks.
Maybe you haven't been following boxing as closely as some of us, but just to bring you up to speed there has been two offers made to Ggg for fights at the full MW limit. One offer was for 10 mil + PPV at 160, when that was declined the second offer came in at 15 mil at the 160 limit. So why are you arguing about 155??
Most definitely. I like Canelo, really rate him but he had the chance to fight GGG when he was a champion in the same division so the people sticking up for him currently really need to get a grip. But you're right an immortal boxing moment.
Catch-weights are a joke whether it's GGG, Canelo,Floyd, Manny, Leonard. It's embarrassing and distorts the results of the fights.
Actually OB that's not what Canelo said at all.. HE Was ****ING misquoted!!!! This content is protected
Sigh.... Because, the people I was referring to were talking about Canelos offer to Golovkin to fight at 155 being a completely legitimate offer, seeing as how it was indeed at middleweight. Seeing as how I think they do have a point, I was saying that its something the sanctioning bodies should address (they probably have Im just not aware of it)
