Adjusted for inflation, the highest-grossing fight in boxing history is still Oscar vs Floyd.

In fact, that fight generated 2.5 million buys, compared to only 2.2 million generated by Floyd and Canelo. Of course, since prices have gone up (buying a fight today costs more than buying a fight in 2007), the Canelo fight generated more cash (150 mil), but 150 million dollars today is actually worth less than 136 million dollars (made by Oscar-Floyd) in 2007.

To be precise, 137 million dollars in 2007 had the same value of 159 million dollars today.:deal

Initial numbers for DLH vs. Floyd were 2.15m buys.

I think it's premature to say anything right now besides the fight was a huge success.

It wasn't a record, but it did pretty damn good.

It shows Floyd has to fight the opponents the public want to see him fight to really generate a lot of PPV buys. He will always make a lot of money because some *****s will even pay $70 to see him fight an old Guzman, but if he really wants to make a killing he has to fight a real opponent.

Yes Mayweather vs Canelo has broken the PPV record as it has generated up to $150 Million so far an counting. The revenue record of Mayweather vs Oscar De La Hoya was $136 Million with 2.48 Million buys. Mayweather vs Canelo is already at 2.2 Million buys and counting. At the same stage counting Oscar vs FMJ was 2.14 Million. We now know why Mayweather is the Pay Per View King and the highest grossing fighter in the history of the sport. Showtimemust be absolutely delighted.

    You know he did.

Heart rate spiked, popped a boner, arms lifted for no purpose other than to contain excitement, new tab, ESB, forum, new thread, type type type, bust...

It didn't have the same hype as a Pac-FM fight would have had.

One can only speculate just how big that fight would have been.

Still, it's nice to see that Canelo is now a PPV star in his own right now.

That was clear from everything I've read. It was $ not buys.

Yeah, it was only months later that the numbers rose to 2.48. It's too early to say what the numbers were for Floyd-Canelo.

The Mayweather vs. Hoya fight brought in $153MM in 2013 dollars, not $159MM. Once all the sales are counted up this fight will have broken the record even when ad******g for inflation.

Its exciting thats its gonna break it. But it was a big card. Mayweathet and canelo cant take all the credit for this when almost everyone agrees the co main event was a ppv fight.
