FLOYD Claims That He Fought COTTO @ 147...

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by SymphonyOHorror, May 6, 2012.

  1. Said that he lost three pounds after the weigh in and was actually 147 on fight night. Unless he went running, how does one lose pounds during the rehydration process?

I watched a video, ' behind the scenes of Mayweather Cotto weigh in' and saw Mayweather drinking lots of liquids before he stepped on stage, so he really probably was 147.

I don't think he quite meant he weighed exactly 147.

He's probably saying he's a natural 147 fighter, and he came into the ring weighing what most 147 fighters do (around 151 or whatever). So, essentially, he's right. He was fighting as a welterweight, more or less.

He weighed 151 for the scales, no ?

The answer would be that he didn't have to rehydrate and that he was over-hydrating.

He could have increased his fluids dramatically so that his weight would be 150+ for the scales since the fight was for JrMW...and then pissed and **** out what wasn't needed. by fight-time, you don't want to have to **** or ****.
Food + Water + **** = extra pounds which Floyd wouldn't have to worry about going on to the scales with.

Then again, he could have just left his clothes on and worn heavier shoes so.....

    Doesn't really matter.

It just means he should stick to WW division because he doesn't blow up in weight by fight-time.

  6. No, Floyd was being literal. On fight night, he claimed he weighed 147.

It's possible to lose 4 pounds of water weight.

He could if he was retaining extra water and also ate a big meal before weigh-in (if he is a walking considerably under the 154lbs)
