Floyd/Cotto. I've heard enough.

Why are so many so called boxing fans on this site so quick to jump on any fighter who is not giving them exactly what they want, when they want it? This is a big fight, it will take time to be made. The fight probably won't happen this year, people are going to need to accept that. Both fighters will do their own thing & in 2009 the fight will be even bigger.

I'm so sick of logging on here to see the same monotonous threads abusing one or the other fighter. I as much as anyone else wants to see the fight but I don't need to see links to cheap video's made by little wannabe gangstas trying to make out as if Floyd is running scared.

Just relax, theres plenty of other fights happening in boxing. Starting new threads everyday about this same subject is not going to change it. When this fight finally comes off Floyd will most likely be ducking someone else according to certain factions. Both men are signed to fight different opponents so just forget about this fight happening in 2008.

I remember not so long ago Lennox Lewis was apparently ducking Wladimir Klitschko. He then got knocked out by Corrie Sanders. I'm not saying this will happen to Cotto & I fully expect him to remain undefeated in 2008, however, my point is the idea Lennox Lewis was ducking Klitschko seems a joke now.

In my opinion Cotto needs to start showing some interest in this fight. He now resides in the upper echelons of boxings elite & the whole "I'll fight who my promoter puts in front of me" speach doesn't wash. He should be in control of his own career & telling people where he wants it to go.

Whether people like it or not Floyd is "the man" in boxing right now whether you consider him true champ at 147 or not. I've never been a Floyd fan but I do admire his skill. People can talk about Margarito all they like but I think most rational fans know deep down he is not in Floyd's league. I notice certain fickle factions of the board have gone strangely quiet since Paul Williams' defeat.

Thats not a dig at him or his fans just another example of how quickly things can change in boxing.

thank you. I left this place 2 years ago and when I left it was starting to become more and more idiots and fanboys. I imagine its the reason alot of the really great posters have disappeared from these forums.

    anyhow...thank you!

Not like the old days eh?

LaMotta and Sugar Ray Robinson would just make the title fights happen and do it, even though they only fought 4 weeks beforehand.

Nowadays boxers bicker about everything from money, gloves, referee, venue, promoters, fight time etc.

The old-timers weren't in a position to bicker as much as today's fighters. If they would have been, they would have.
BTW, you mentioned Robinson, but Robbie was actually a guy who was very determined to control as many parts of his career and his fights as he could, and bickered about just about anything he could get away with, from what i heard.

:thumbsup Robinson would OFTEN wait untill the day before the fight and DEMAND more money for the fight. when he would do this the promoter would take it outta the other guys purse

All the interest? Well its because this is the biggets fight in BOXING!! Gee why should the fans clamor for that?:huh

Floyds bullshitting with a useless rematch with Golden Girl and its PATHETIC:good

You are right about a lot of things. Floyd is still the man after all this years. I really wish for Cotto to stay undefeated this 2008 so the fight can be made the next year. I'm just thinking, maybe that's why Arum put Mayorga on Cotto's plans.

    Why?
Well, Cotto was supposed to fight the winner of Cintron vs Margarito, but he got to fight Mayorga instead. Why? Bob Arum is Margarito's promoter he knows Margarito will win the IBF title against Cintron.
    So?
Bob Arum will have TWO champions in Margarito (IBF) and Cotto (WBA).

    So what?
If you are thinking as a promoter your job is to win a lot of money. So why make a fight against your top two guys in welterweight so fast when you could be making money fighting them with other 'top' competition. Promoters can be a pain to the sport sometimes

Floyd fighting DLH a second time is sickening.

As is Cotto fighting a Contender reject, and then possibly the shop worn Mayorga

    SHAME ON BOTH
