I don't think this fight would bring the highest purse. Cotto, even if he loses and Shane, should he beat Judah bring a better payday in my opinion. Its because of that and the risk Margarito would bring that I don't think Floyd would take the fight. Hopefully we're both wrong.

I understand its a buisness, but as a fan I want to see the best fight the best. Everybody at welter is fighting everybody else except for Floyd. That leaves a bad taste to me. He's going to make millions no matter who he fights. And even though I dislike him I know he's a great fighter. I'd like to see him secure his legacy by fighting the best because he wants to show how great he can be, not how much money he can make.

As much as I don't like Floyd, you give him way to little credit.

The fans are to blame for the creation of Floyd Mayweather. Look at what happens to boxers when they lose! Jermain Taylor is considered finished to alot of people. I hope Jermain comes back and has some beauty fights. Kessler is now a hype job, I don't like Kessler, but I do hope he comes back and has some money fights. Mayweather would never be like this if he thought he could lose and come back as a bigger draw. Dela Hoya did it, but he had fans no matter what. The man was made for tv. Mayweather is abrasive, people are watching to see him lose. So long as he can keep that '0' he keeps people buying the PPV's.

I couldn't disagree with you more.

A Margo victory over Cotto would make him the most celebrated WW out there. And if Arum was able to offer floyd his biggest purse at the time when Margo was relatively unknown, I'm willing to bet he would
    make Floyd another great offer.

The 24/7 program alone would bring plenty of PPV buyers on the simple premise that FLoyd has been ducking Margarito.

I agree with you however, that FLoyd would not take that fight!

Don't act like Mayweather dominated that fight against Dela Hoya. He won an SD, now lets go see him get some more SD's against some guys in their prime at WW.

Don't waste your time with TooDumb, he is still under the impression that
an SD means Floyd got a Super Decision against DLH:nono

Maybe you're right, but Im still not sold for the simple reason that Margarito is mostly unknown to the casual fan. A 24/7 series would help, but do people who only occasionaly watch the fights pay attention to someone they're not familiar with? Im not so sure. But believe me, Im hope Im wrong about the whole scenerio I outlined, I just have my doubts.

Margarito could beat everyone @ 147 and Floyd would still look elsewhere. Actually, If Margarito DID clean up 147, that would seal the deal of NO FIGHT EVER.

    ROFLLLLL
people defending floyd saying he's making good money decisions make it sound like they're getting a share of that money, whats in it for you when floyd makes more? is he sending everyone paychecks? dont you want to see your idol face the best competition to further solidify his legacy and to make his claims of being an ATG and the p4p king more convincing?
I just dont' understand this ****. even the money theory doesn't hold up when you consider the $8m offer to fight margo, did the baldo fight bring in more money?
ladies and gentlemen we have a ww "champ" who didn't defend against a single top 10 ww for almost 2 years. what a sham

It's like they stick up for his money when people talk **** about him.. I mean if he's youre favorite boxer, wouldn't you want to see him "box"? "He's not ducking, he's out making his money." Why would you even care about his money? **** his money.. How about actually wantin' to see him in the ring? And not against DLH or Hatton either.. The dude is loaded already.. He doesn't have to worry about ****.. Whats a few less dollars in a fight?

    jab this is too easy!

    1) you didnt mention hatton

    2) the mayweathers are originally from EE

    3) you obviously planted this thread years ago afraid that your true agenda belittling EE fighters would be exposed. i would not be surprised if you built a time machine to cover up your plot
