I will say this I'd support the idea of the UFC starting a boxing division, so long as they don't **** with the rules or the fighter's ability to make a lot of money (cause the UFC guys get ****ed over pretty bad). They really know how to promote their **** and the UFC brand name is enough to get average Joe interested in Boxing again. That being said this mayweather bs would have nothing to do with this because he's said "I'm retiring from boxing" not "I'm still gonna box, only know I've entered into a promotional pact with the UFC".
We sure as **** don't know that he would dominate the standup game. Stand up fighting in MMA is very different than in boxing. Floyd would not have the big gloves to help cover up. Floyd would have to be far far more concerned about dirty boxing and fighting in the clinch. Floyd would have to avoid knees and elbows and kicks. Floyd's dipping and ducking and sliding is all well good in a boxing match, but it doesnt work quite as well when an opponent can grab your head and knee you in the face.
Dude you obviously don't know **** about Floyd or his boxing style. He's not a ducker or a weaver. He's not Sweat Pea he's more positional. He doesn't even bounce around that much. He's also a master at fighting in clinches. Yeah he'd have to look for knees and getting puched around and **** but frankly if there was anyone in boxing who could cross over and pick that **** up it would be floyd.
I disagree 100%. Frankly, Floyd doesn't have a lot of power and he can't seriously fight out of a clinch. He could very easily be picked apart by anyone with decent leg kicks. I imagine even a Kenny Florian type would pick apart Floyd's standup. You can't run in and potshot when the dude is kicking your legs out from under you on the outside. Boxers don't transition well into MMA, especially if they don't have real one punch KO power. I think a fighter who isn't necessarily great, but is accurate and has real power has a much better chance at transitioning than Floyd.
