i like hopkins and love to listen to what he has to say. however i do agree that his best wins were against lighter men. the likes of tarver and johnson were good wins but both tarver and johnson are B/C level fighters in reality. his losses to jones, taylor, and calzaghe should be considered when judging bernard's greatness imo.
Nah....think about what you are saying. Tied? PAC and Floyd? You need your head examined if you think Floyd can be considered the best when PAC has done all he has. Nard should be #2 behind PAC.
To be honest, I think he does make some good points, however what he forgets is what makes a boxer great is when that do something out of the ordinary. Which B-Hop does by still being a top p4p fighter at the age of 44/45, having 20 defenses, etc. B-Hop is a great fighter of both are time and all-time, that's a fact, but at the same time he is not as great as some make him out to be.
Dude Floyd is absolutely paranoid. "What is happening in the sport of boxing, is that they are trying to build and make a fighter that can beat me. "
that's ridiculous. hopkins lost to RJJ and has disputed losses to jc and jt, but throw in what he has done and done beyond the age of 35 and he's certainly a "great" of "this era." FMjr has some good wins but has done more than his fair share of cherrypicking. wonder who his 'greats' are of 'this era.' floyd's a little whiny *****
Wow what an insult on Bernard who fought everyone unlike Floyd. Must be jealousy that someone had the guts to fight the best and he didn't.
Hagler used to say stuff like this, but Marvin fought everyone. Floyd doesn't fight anyone and acts like he has eliminated all the challenges, and they still cannot find someone to beat him. This guy is made for 2009 and handpicking. In the 1980's he would not have been able to talk and say he was great without fighting anyone great, but in this era he has managed to do that.
Yes but he is greater than Floyd will ever be. I doubt Hopkin's would have lost to Taylor and Calzaghe when he was a little younger. And the Jones fight was when he was young and not experienced. When he was prime no one was beating him. That is why he racked up over 20 defenses.
I agree he beat lighter guys however, Hagler who I admire and love his fighting, did beat lighter weight guys moving up for his most famous fights, and what will be his most famous win and greatest fight ever was against Thomas Hearns, who moved up from welterweight. Yet to be honest, I don't think that should be held against him. Tommy did fight up to cruiserweight, as did Trinidad up to 168. And I think Hagler is top 20 ATG as is Hearns.
Taylor won on the cards, which is all you have to do to win. Just like people say Marvin beat Ray 1987. Not on the cards he didn't, and that is where it counts.
