why do people keep saying he's one of the fastest handed fighters of this era, when compared to roy, sugar shane, judah and even a prime oscar, floyds speed aint all that....his accuracy is, which i think blinds many fans into thinking hes lightning fast, but in reality he's not as quick as people make him out to be.....
Neither is Manny Pacquiao. Lightning fast hand speed. The only fighter you would ever need to see in regards to that category is Meldrick Taylor. His hands were a blur, sometimes it looks as if the footage has been sped up.
It was clear that during the Zab Judah fight that Floyd was the slower of the 2. But because of Floyds better technique, composer, and skill he was able to land first most o the time. Which owes to the greatness of the sport. You dont need to be the fastest or strongest to be the best.
Show me "crazy fast" hand speed on Manny Pacquiao. I don't mean shadow boxing, I've got crazy fast hand speed when doing that, I mean in a professional ring.

Floyd is fast... but not Shane Mosley fast though. Wish his nuthuggers would be a little more realistc and not call him the fasted handed guy in the history of boxing. Guys like De La Hoya and Judah were on the same level as he was in handspeed.. and even faster in foot speed.
Oscar used to shoe shine, so it made him appear faster then he probably really was. He'd throw about 3 taps, then unleash that massive left hook that would be disguised in the combination. Much like Calzaghe.
Zab may be faster in foot speed but surely not DLH. It's the reflexes of Floyd that surpasses most of so-called quick or fast fighters.
Get real... Oscar could glide around the ring with ease. Floyd on the other hand can be tracked down and his ability to move around has taken a severe blow since moving up to 147. His feet are quick, but they ain't Ali-like.
Never heard any knowledgeable Floyd fan ever claim Floyd was as fast as Sugar ray leonard, Taylor, or even Zab Judah. His right hand is monsterous and he times it so it gives maximum effect, but nobody would claim he has huge combination speed.
